I stayed at the Bonham this weekend for 3 nights as I was attending a conference for work. I had not been to Edinburgh for many years and I wanted to ensure I had a nice hotel. The hotel definitely did not disappoint. I had a fantastic room with a view that looked right out to the edges of Edinburgh...

Superb hotel in West End of Edinburgh and within walking distance of some of the best parts of the city. Well furnished, boutique hotel with excellent, efficient and friendly staff. Bedroom had super views with plenty storage space and large bathroom. Super food (breakfast was excellent and freshly prepared). Free parking around back of hotel - extremely important as public...

Superb stay in the West End of Edinburgh. Peaceful location but within walking distance to some of the best parts of the City… Beautiful building with extremely friendly staff. Breakfast superb and served in a lovely oak panelled room. Great wee late bar that was nicely set up for a nightcap (or two). The cheapest rooms are not the largest...

The hotel is in a great location, 5 minutes walk to Princess Street and a huge selection of bars and restaurants. It is on one of Edinburgh's gorgeous terraces and is furnished very well throughout. Service is very good and breakfast was lovely. The room was very spacious with a huge bathroom and walk in robe. We loved the bed!...

Hotel booked for their Sunday night offer of B&B and Dinner. Parking good and reception staff very welcoming although we found out that breakfast was continental and not 'full' but our fault for not reading the terms properly. Room was ok and clean - starting to show a few signs of wear here and there and the lack of air-conditioning...

This hotel is tucked away in a quiet crescent just off the West End. The staff are efficient and pleasant. We only had afternoon tea in the small bar area, so can't comment on the rest of the hotel. The bar was tightly packed with small tables and no outlook and the afternoon tea quite ordinary and not very memorable.

Love this hotel, it is so individual and has a lovely Scottish feel to it. Breakfast is lovely and it has a lovely atmosphere to sit and relax and enjoy a glass of wine. The hotel is off Princess Street so you do not have the hustle and bustle of that but is only a 5 minute walk away.

The hotel is situated in a very nice and quiet street and close to everything. The rooms are very nice, some are better than others so if you don't like yours, do not hesitate to ask for another one. The staff is very helpful, they chat with you and try to make you feel very comfortable and they succeeded in...

I recently celebrated my 50th birthday at 'The Bonham' with my husband and three other couples. From start to finish our stay was a delight. Staff are very friendly and helpful and we even stayed an extra night as one couple I had paid up front for as a 'best of the Bonham' deal couldn't make it on the Sunday...

Service, service and service were the highlights of our stay in Edinburgh as guests of this nice boutique hotel The Bonham. Our room was number 308 with a perfect view of the city skyline. There is a lift in the building, so you feel yourself in a traditional Scottish house with amenities of 21th century: wi-fi, excellent shower and space,...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
