Just returned from a lovey stay at the hotel. The room was lovely and spacious overlooking the road. A couple of points for improvement was we had to ask for our case to be delivered and chase for the bottle of Proseco as it was 10mins late. The evening meal was delicious, we had the pheasant. Overall very good, but... More

Spent a night at The Bonham when visiting Edinburgh to see a show. An excellent hotel in the city centre. Convenient for all major attractions. The best views from the hotel are from the rooms to the rear as they overlook the dean village towards Fife. The car park is a little on the small side but if you double... More

Lovely hotel. It is a quiet location but easily within walking distance of Princess Street ( about 10 mins)We had superior room and view was fabulous. We had a very nice dinner in the restaurant. The staff are friendly and helpful. Only flaw was the wi if connection which required you to log in every time you wanted to use... More

I've stayed at the Bonham a couple of times and I genuinely like the hotel. On site car parking is a great advantage, great decor, lovely location and delicious food. This time we booked the best of bonham package which was meant to include standard room, bottle of prosecco & chocolates on arrival, dinner and breakfast I'm bed the next... More

I like the Bonham, but I do find it frustrating. The location, building and bedrooms are very good, and there is some on site parking if you arrive early enough. Unfortunately, little things that should be givens are wrong. My wife had to come and find me to let me in from the car park as repeated attempts on the... More

My wife and I stayed at the Bonham Hotel for a short break. We stayed there before and returned for a further stay due to our previous experience. The staff are outstanding - smart, friendly and caring - and they do all they can to make your stay a memorable experience. The accommodation is excellent and is very comfortable with... More

Where to begin? We loved this hotel and stayed two nights. Four gals taking a break from family and work and The Bonham was a delight in our Scotland week. From check-in with super friendly and helpful Susannah to drinks served by the very amusing Louis (and everyone else there as pleasant as anyone could be) it created a perfect... More

My husband had an early morning business meeting and work to do before it and the hotel forgot our 6am wake up call so we overslept.....a very bad start to the day. The hotel is part of an imposing Victorian terrace in a lovely street about an 8 minute walk to the Edinburgh Castle end of Princes Street. (On the... More

I recently stayed at the Bonham on a Thursday night treat with my husband and was very pleased when we arrived as the lobby and general feel of the hotel was luxe and modern which I love. However, on entering our room I was a little disappointed. The furniture was old fashioned (in a bad way) and a bit shabby... More

We stayed here for our second visit last month. Got a room with an amazing view. Comfy bed with excellent quality bedding and so silent we slept like logs. A beautiful building which is impeccably kept. got parked out the back which is a real luxury in Edinburgh. Good breakfast too. The foreign receptionist asked us on arrival if this... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
