Quick one night trip to Edinburgh with the wife, the package included an evening meal which worked out great value. Hotel/ room good if not wow. Really like the location, out of the way but we could still walk everywhere around the city.

Four of us, two couples, went for an overnight stay between Christmas and New Year. Sadly, the Bonham, though pleasant enough, didn't live up to expectations. The rooms we were given were the smallest available, despite having been booked well in advance and despite the hotel being quiet. When we asked for bigger rooms the staff (East European, of course)...

This boutique hotel in Edinburgh has really got its act together. For a long time it has been a sleeping treasure just a tease off the beaten track in the West End of town. The dining experience is simply beautiful. Good friendly service, a great menu in an intimate but uncluttered restaurant, and food to titillate even the most discerning...

This was our 2nd stay at The Bonham and it was just as good as the 1st time. It is in a lovely quiet crescent but close enough to walk to the centre. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble, although we had a slightly smaller room this time it was still very comfortable...

The Bonham is an absolute find. It is a number of beautiful town houses knocked together to form a hotel and it is the closest you will get to elegant Georgian living in the modern era. A sweeping staircase, huge bedrooms with enormous windows, beautiful bathrooms ( a bit of modern luxury), I keep expecting to see Miss Marple having...

The public areas are very pleasant, elegantly decorated with a contemporary twist. The service was excellent and lived up to the boutique hotel claim. The restaurant was the highlight, the head chef Maciej's offering for dinner was superb, with a breakfast service to match. Our room was very large, with imposing high ceilings and a big four poster bed, however...

Stopped here as a couple for 2 nights from 13th December. Literally 5 min walk from centre. Lovely decorated spacious room with a great view over the city. Staff very friendly and hotel well maintained, spotlessly clean and decorated for Xmas. Breakfast room very nice with a Buffett with selection of cereals fruits juices etc then a hit menu to...

I've stayed at the Bonham a number of times over the last few years and in many ways it is an ideal hotel. The place is large, rooms are spacious, the bed was very comfortable, food in the restaurant is good (if not to a standard that wows you) and it is conveniently placed for the City Centre but somehow...

I stayed here for one night on business. It's a partial review as I did not dine or have breakfast. The hotel is very spacious and traditional. From the small single lift it can be a trail to find your way to your room. The staff are very welcoming. The bar area is small which means conversations are too easy...

The check-in was quick and the staff very friendly. The hotel is literally just of Princess street (5 min walk) The breakfast is great, the rooms really nice (good bath) so we will most definately stay here anytime we're in Edinburgh! Only downside is there is no gym/spa at the hotel, there is one in another hotel but spa-treatments there...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
