I have stayed in Edinburgh numerous times over the years, however this was our first time at the Malmaison. We were really looking forward to our stay, however the hotel did not live up to our expectation. The rooms are nothing more than average and the bathroom badly needs a coat of paint and the the unit around the sink...

Dear dferguson Thank you for taking the time to write your review. It saddens me deeply to read that some aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. I have personally inspected the room you stayed in today and I agree that the bathroom requires slight attention and I have instructed my Maintenance team to carry this out as...

The hotel and staff were absolutely fabulous, polite, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The room was excellent, the breakfast well presented and one of the best we have had. I would certainly stay there again if I was in the area.

Hotel is located in Leith area of Edinburgh, with it's own car park which is an added bonus in the capital where parking charges can be really expensive. Check in was quick and efficient, our room was located on the third floor which is reached by a lift [slightly noisy] from main reception area, lobby was spotless clean! Room itself...

I still love this hotel group although this particular hotel is a little tired in places- notably the lift and bathroom. Bed very comfortable with crisp linens and room very clean. Not totally certain about the window finishes in bathroom - think I would have preferred a blind than the peek boo views to outside and more uncomfortably, out to...

Great Staff. Wonderful Sunday lunch. Bar service excellent. Great stay, first experience of Malmaison chain and thoroughly enjoyed it. They got everything right and unfortunately that doesn't happen so much these days.

Our room was in the newer extension of the hotel and afraid it was quite cold. Spoke with staff who provided another heater for the bathroom which was very cold. Good range of teas, coffees and facilities in the room.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It's the mother of all Malmaison's. The former house of ill-repute now has a reputation that's second to none, and it's also just a short taxi ride away from Waverley Station. Malmaison Edinburgh bides at Leith (as they say up here), just a stone's throw from the Royal Yacht Britannia, but offering far more funky luxury. Yes, when you want exciting hotels in Edinburgh, this is the King, not the castle. Our Edinburgh hotel puts you close to all of Edinburgh's cobbled splendours, incredible shopping and famous galleries. Then it's back to Mal for Scots dining with a twist, a fine selection of single malts and mojitos in the bar and then back to the slinkiest and most spectacular rooms in the Scots capital. ... more   less
