This was our first visit and we stayed a Friday and Saturday. We enjoyed the hotel , the staff were all young , professional and most importantly happy and seemed to enjoy their work. Our room was comfortable...One minor gripe the lighting although fine around the bed was inadequate in the rest of the room. A simple inexpensive solution would...

Just getting back from a fantastic stay at the Malmaison in Edinburgh. This was our third time we'd stayed at this hotel and as always it was a wonderful experience made special by the friendly and helpful staff. We were given a very warm welcome and the suite we stayed in was beautiful and in particular the bed was very...

MY husband and I just completed a 10-day stay in the Edinburgh area - him for work, me for vacation. He has stayed at the MalMaison in the past and knew I would like it. The hotel is located on the Leith River which is lovely. It is also 2 blocks from a major bus line into the city center,...

The Malamaison in Leith has been a long-standing favourite but no longer. The redecoration has made the place resemble what I imagine an East European bordello might be like. Uncomfortable public spaces and the refurbished bar was so unpleasant that we visited a nearby pub for a pre-dinner drink instead. Continental breakfast much as before and very good. The room...

An overnight stay in this stylish hotel at the foot o the walk was a delight however the quality of the food was in the bracket of had better elsewhere. The reception staff are warm and helpful and compliment the boutique feel around you. Its a new, modern styling hotel with a bar that still needs something to move it...

Stayed here years ago and was the best hotel in Leith. Still is but says more about the lack of competition than the hotel itself. Room 418 was ours. A 'luxury' room and price to match. But, it wasn't. No bath, no mirror in the room to do make up, dry hair, normal human hotel stuff. The shower was poor...

This was our first time staying in the malmaison in Leith but we do like the chain's stylised decor and quirky fun touches and have stayed in other malmaison hotels. This is a lovely hotel set on the docks, we booked a special January package to include dinner, bed and breakfast. The hotel offers free parking behind the hotel (entrance...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It's the mother of all Malmaison's. The former house of ill-repute now has a reputation that's second to none, and it's also just a short taxi ride away from Waverley Station. Malmaison Edinburgh bides at Leith (as they say up here), just a stone's throw from the Royal Yacht Britannia, but offering far more funky luxury. Yes, when you want exciting hotels in Edinburgh, this is the King, not the castle. Our Edinburgh hotel puts you close to all of Edinburgh's cobbled splendours, incredible shopping and famous galleries. Then it's back to Mal for Scots dining with a twist, a fine selection of single malts and mojitos in the bar and then back to the slinkiest and most spectacular rooms in the Scots capital. ... more   less
