If it had not been for the poor quality shower where the temperature was so unpredictable to the point of becoming dangerously scalding or if we both wanted a shower the second person was almost certainly going to have a cold one then a higher score would have been awarded. I've dealt with poor showers before but this was almost... More

Lovely little guest house situated across the road from the Zoo, which made access to the Zoo very easy for us. We arrived quite late and Joanne was very understanding and friendly about it. Room was a good enough size, nice bathroom and very clean. Not in the centre of Edinburgh so quiet at night, but a 10 minute drive... More

I stayed in MacIntosh for 4 nights last week, Joanne was extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms and bathrooms are a little small but spotlessly clean and very well appointed. This guest house is in a fantastic location opposite the zoo easy for bus travel in to city centre. When we go back to Edinburgh we will definitely stay here... More

We stayed one night last weekend and were very pleasantly surprised. Very clean and comfortable. The room was modern and well appointed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cooked breakfast was fine. Excellent value for money. Convenient. Straight opposite the zoo. Road can be a little noisy but no complaints at all.

This guest house is such a friendly home from home that we have returned after staying here a few years ago. You can't fault it or it's position for exploring Edinburgh as there are a choice of 4 buses every few minutes into Princes Street plus the Airport buses, from where many more run to all parts of the city... Long story short, this B&B seems to be very disorganized and their online booking is not a sure thing. Luckily I realized this before we stayed here. I have booked with MANY bed & breakfasts before and never had to deal with these issues. I booked a room online through their website after I had emailed Joanne and she responded... More

We are very sorry that this unfortunate situation has happened but we feel that the criticism is very unfair. We waited 72 hours and despite sending out reminder emails never received the 50% deposit or credit card details to secure the booking. Macintosh is a popular, friendly guesthouse and I really try my very best for our visitors- please see... More

Excellent location and easy to find. Buses to Haymarket and Princes Street were every few minutes and the bus from Airport drops you at the door. The bedroom and dining room were clean and comfortable. Surprised not to be offered haggis for breakfast but what we were given was very nice.

I stayed in Macintosh Guest House last week-end. Joanne was extremely courteous and pleasant. She went beyond to call of duty to help her guests. The bedroom was extremely well kept and clean. The bed was really comfy. The Scottish Breakfast was superb, I would highly recommend this guesthouse. Joanne you're amazing Phillip Ireland

I booked for one night to attend a rugby match and drove into Downie Grove not sure where the place was. I phoned and spoke to Joanne who not only guided me but came out to meet me. After showing me to my room, she then offered to run me down to Murrayfield in her car as I was running... More
