A superb property in a Central location near Princess Street, friendly staff and great food Walking into the property you step back in time, but all the mod cons are there -wonderful room-and a proper pod coffee machine-no more instant coffee sachets!

Edinburgh is a fantastic place to stay whatever you are looking for you will find it there. The Royal Scott's is full of charm and character, very enjoyable. Our room was a double standard in the basement, I would have preferred a proper window. Bathroom was huge with sperate bath and shower.

A good city hotel, but if you seek the 'Scottish experience' (as we did), this is not the place. It is well run, the rooms are clean and the breakfast was value for money. The location is in the New Town and has easy access to the whole of the city.

Wonderful location, service, food and private room. Would highly recommend the club for any special occasion. The staff were incredibly friendly and nothing was too much for them. My father greatly enjoyed being made special!

I will stay there again as we have relatives born in Leith who were in the Royal Scots. A very interesting history. The rooms dedicated to different people and all the memorabilia. Very good. Not so good were the lift being out of order and having to use the stairs to the second floor, the dress code not being enforced,... More

I found the club welcoming and friendly with a nice relaxed atmosphere and will use it again. I have recommended it to colleagues who might be visiting Edinburgh. The location is also excellent for shopping .

A most excellent venue, very good location, very friendly staff and really love food, what more can you say. Our organisation has been using this facility since May 1994, having 57 formal dinners with an average attendance of 18.

Walking through the front door was to some extent like walking back into history. Comfortable and friendly. The rooms was a little small but more than adequate. The full Scottish Breakfast was great and provided a good wholesome start to a cold day.

A return visit after several years - staff at reception and breakfast most welcoming and efficient, wonderful large room with modern bathroom and capsule coffee machine. And bathrobes. Good location in the New Town but only on street pay parking, time limited. As we were there by train thus was fine for us and we walked everywhere.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
