Comfortable and quiet room with a tasty breakfast, staff very helpful and friendly. Convenient for taking in the sights of Stockbridge and three New Town. We had an overnight stay to make the most of a visit to Edinburgh

ChanningsEdinburgh is a small town house hotel in a good location, 10minutes from the West End and close to Stockbridge and the NewTown, which means plenty of bars, restaurants and other attractions within walking distance. Suitable for both business and leisure trips Staff are always friendly and helpful, and the public areas comfortable. The full Scottish breakfast is recommended to...

We stayed here to be close to family and thought it was good value for money in this interesting Stockbridge area. The building and furnishings are traditional, with big settees and open fires. There's a library. Breakfast was nice with friendly staff.

Stockbridge is on outskirts of city centre, but you can catch a bus from the top road or walk if dry weather! Very quiet area and hotel was welcoming after sight seeing all day. Would recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for a 3 night short break. Overall we were happy with our stay at this hotel. It is very traditional which is part of its charm, although it is a bit worn and rough around the edges. Our room (48) was a little shabby, but was clean and had a lovely view out over the rooftops of Edinburgh....

I would highly recommend this boutique hotel for anyone looking to have a genuine Edinburgh experience. Unlike the bland hotel chains, you are staying in a building which has period features and old world charm, not to mention a cosy reception room with a fire! My bright room was very warm and looked over the pleasant back garden. My only...

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you found everything to be of a good standard. We have made a note of swapping the Italian biscuits for Scottish shortbread. As it does, after all, make more sense. We hope you decide...

Stayed at the Cannings in January with friends. It is very tired and dysfunctional. The staff in the bistro downstairs could not speak or understand English and the receptionist was most unaccommodating. I asked if we could have drinks in the lounge by reception and was told to get it ourselves. The infamous heating was playing up and so we...

Nothing more to add to what I have said. We nhave used the hotel many times in the past and will continue to do so in the future. It is a reasonably central location with an easy walk to Stockbridge and both Princes Street and George Street

On arrival to the hotel I was very impressed. At check in I was well informed of what the hotel had to offer. We arrived around 8pm so decided to dine in Bistro in the basement. We had a nice meal and a few drinks bad staff were really friendly. Our room was on the second floor and was very...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Channings in Edinburgh is an informal, relaxed hotel with a very friendly approach. It occupies five Edwardian townhouses in Stockbridge, one of Edinburgh's most popular 'urban villages'. Channings is a wonderfully quirky property which feels a bit like a Scottish country home, full of charming Victorian paintings, prints, books, furniture and memorabilia reflecting the history of previous tenant Sir Ernest Shackleton. ... more   less
