Would definitely stay here again. Lovely big comfortable rooms and wonderful lounge spaces to relax and read. Good breakfast and restaurant The fact that the houses were owned by Earnest Shackleton added to the sense of history

Just a short stay in Edinburgh over Valentines Day. The Hotel is excellent friendly and helpful on check in. We had a superior room which in fact was more like a suite. It is certainly the largest hotel "room" I have ever stayed in. There is a very good choice at breakfast and the food was good quality. We ate...

We hav been here before many years ago. The dining area was the biggest change. But food was very good and we had a very restful sleep. The garden was protection from noise from the street. All in all, a great place.

We stayed one night at this lovely hotel. It was very comfortable and warm on a cold day and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room we had was on the ground floor and it was a good size, comfortable, and clean with a large en-suite. We will most definitely be back on our next stay in Edinburgh.

We have stayed at Channings multiple times. The first time it was very difficult to find, but after that it has been a snap. They have a favorite room that works for us and we plan to return soon. It is well worth getting a bit out of the city. A lovely experience.

What a great hotel! The breakfasts were excellent and plentiful, with a very good choice. The brasserie was equally as fine. Our room was warm, comfortable and had a lovely view over to Fife (when the little bit of mist dispersed!). Staff were helpful and friendly. We sat by the (mock-coal) fire on a cosy lounge whilst having a "wee...

My first time at an Ascend Property. I know Cambria's are the top tier of Choice and I love the ones I've stayed at, but this was my first Ascend and its less corprorate like and feels more like a bed and breakfast. Very nice change of pace. The rooms were very nice, as well as the common spaces. The...

Lovely hotel. Nice staff, the hotel lounge and the rooms are very well decorated. The room is super cozy, It feels almost like a apartment, but with no kitchen. It's a romantic hotel and great to go as a couple.

Hotel is made of a two large 4-storey houses. Its furnishing is in a good condition, staff is nice and helpful. Location is not too central, you have to walk about 20mins to get to the city center up via a larger hill. But its a great walk. If you want to stay in the vicinity of the hotel you...

Channings in Edinburgh is an informal, relaxed hotel with a very friendly approach. It occupies five Edwardian townhouses in Stockbridge, one of Edinburgh's most popular 'urban villages'. Channings is a wonderfully quirky property which feels a bit like a Scottish country home, full of charming Victorian paintings, prints, books, furniture and memorabilia reflecting the history of previous tenant Sir Ernest Shackleton. ... more   less
