Stayed at the Apex with a bunch of friends, perfect base for a group "on the lash" as we say in the UK! The room was clean, massive TV, Tea/Coffee making facility, lovely shower/bathroom and the beds were very comfy. Breakfast was spot on, full Scottish with a buffet style layout of cereals, lox, ham etc. All in all, a...

Great service in all areas from very friendly staff. Very clean room and public areas. Got a great night's sleep in a very comfy bed. Liked the fact there was an iron and ironing board in the room for smartening up my business suit for event next day at Murrayfield Stadium. Hotel good location for short walk from/to Haymarket train...

Going to a concert at the Usher Hall (a twenty minute or so walk from the Hotel), and getting off the train at Haymarket Station, I decided to stay here following the show. So glad that I did! This has a contemporary feel to it. Fresh, bright, modern. Although my room wasn't the largest, it was very comfortable and exceptionally...

We went for the Rugby at Murrayfield Stadium. The hotel was situated half way between the Stadium and Princess Street. Couldn't have had a better location near Haymarket railway station. Trams and buses were plentiful with a taxi rank close at hand. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant. Plenty of cafes for breakfast and restaurants within walking distance. The...

Felt very welcome by the friendly and helpful staff. Good comfort and the hotel had a brilliant location at Haymarket, five minutes walking to the tram. After another five minutes you got off in the city centre. Would definitely stay there again.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
