Just outside the city with a bus stop right outside the hotel - you have to consider the dunstane if you are in Edinburgh Two beautiful properties over the road from each other provide the best Scottish hospitality I've ever experienced! I had a standard double in the smaller hotel - really suitable if on business ! The room was...

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW
Reviewed 3 January 2017

I picked The Dunstane for a short stay between Christmas and New Year and wasn't disappointed. From the moment I booked, I received an email to offer assistance with booking airport transfers, restaurant bookings and any other requests. It was my partner's 30th and on arrival there was a small card and gift in the room. The room itself was...

Recently stayed 2 nights at the Dunstane hotel for a special occasion. We booked a deluxe double and we received one of the newer rooms which was lovely, the robes and slippers were a nice touch. The only downside to our room was the shower, the pressure wasn't very good and it took a while to have a shower. We...

Visited for two evenings last week. We arrived at around 1.30pm, too early to check in which was fine as we wanted to get straight out and enjoy Edinburgh. There was a lot of builders and obvious refurbishment going on at the time of arrival, but despite having a bit of a sinking feeling upon initially seeing it didn't really...

From the room, to the customer service, to the food - all was top notch. It wasn't just one or two staff I spoke to either - they were all welcoming and hospitable as could be. The bed is extremely comfortable, the towels were heated, and there was free netflix which was a really nice touch. The Wi-fi is really...

I drove on the Friday and from the time of arrival till departure it was absolutely superb. Room 210 a deluxe (quiet) room had everything in it with bottles of water and a coffee...

Johan S, Sweden We spent a long weekend at this wonderful place. Very beautiful hotel building and really lovely staff, especially all the girls serving breakfast. No problem at all with special diets! Good prices, nice room, good cleening, 20 m to the bus stop... as a matter of fact, it was perfect for us. We will be back!!

Beautiful décor and will be even better when the refurbishment is finished. Excellent hospitality by all the staff. We were told we had a free upgrade but we actually had what we booked a 'small double' - the room was small as expected but the bed was very small which detracted from its comfort. I was surprised the toiletries we...

Hello there Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. I am sorry that we seem to have missed the mark with a couple of things - I will ask housekeeping about your bottled water, this is very strange indeed as you get a new bottle every day. The toiletries are changed if they are empty so again...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
