We booked this hotel because of great location and it seemed good value. Interesting shops and plenty eating and drinking places nearby. Within walking distance from Waverley Station, Princes Street, Holyrood Park, Festival Theatre etc. The staff were friendly helpful and efficient. Our 4th floor room was clean with a decent shower. We paid an extra £20 for an upgrade...

couldn't fault this hotel, we had a young child in our group of 5, they were extremely patient with her and so friendly and accommodating of her, Nothing was too much trouble, the location was amazing, with everything at hand. Thank you to the all the staff for making us feel welcome.

Overall hotel ratings was good, Room is spacious and new. Good coffee maker available. Location of hotel is very good. Except that shower room has no shower screen, floor all wet when we shower. Toilet door is too big and blocking access.

The rooms were excellent - really good. The bed was lovely & had an excellent corner sofa. The only issue was the hotel bar, food & drink. Baguette = soup roll apparently, ran out of wine by the glass

My room had a fantastic view of the castle. The location is perfect for exploring the city on foot. There are countless food options close by. It's a quick walk to the National Museum and the Royal Mile. My room was large and clean. It could have used better lighting in the bathroom, but it was good value and comfort....

Arrived at hotel 9.30 after our early morning flight from Cardiff, we were hoping to just leave our bags there and have a walk around until we could check at 2, the lady at the desk was so polite and welcoming and informed us that the room was ready and we could check in. The room and bathroom were a...

It was our first experience of being upgraded to a top room & we LOVED it. It was off season (just before Easter) so we were lucky. The hotel is in a great spot, so close to all the important places to see in Edinburgh.

The location of this hotel is great, you can walk up about 80 steps and your at the castle, which leads onto the other attractions & shops etc. The hotel room itself was ideal for me & my partner (city room plus) as it had a decent size, extremely comfy bed & PILLOWS!! Made it very hard to get out...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
