Stayed here for 2 nights with my daughter. A decent enough hotel, very much a conference centre feel to it but the customer service was superb! Great location albeit rather noisy if your not used to so much activity. Would stay again but only because of room rate and service.

I stayed here with my husband and young baby to visit the Christmas markets and found very little to fault. The price was very reasonable for what we got, the hotel was close to the markets and main shopping areas, there were rather a few hills and cobbled streets to negotiate with a pram but that is one of charms...

We enjoyed a 4-night stay here from 27th-31st December 2014 to celebrate our wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay. The location was excellent with lots of pubs and small restaurants nearby and the Christmas lights in Grassmarket gave it a wonderful festive feel. We had asked for a room with a castle view so on arrival...

Enjoyed a 2 night stay at the hotel in December 2014. Location was excellent and had a lovely room overlooking Edinburgh Castle. The hotel is only a 10/15 minute walk to Princes Street and there is a lovely selection of shops and restaurants in the Grassmarket area. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful and there was a good...

Stayed 2 nights. Room is a reasonable size, well equipped. A good selection for breakfast. Staff were all very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The ground floor is being refurbished, so is closed off. Reception is on level 1. It did not affect our stay. Would love to head back when they are finished to see it finished. Tour...

Now from the outside the hotel doesn't scream out at you for attention but don't be fooled as inside more than makes up for it. Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
