I normally don't pay that much attention to hotels. For me a hotel is just a place to change clothes and lay my head down. As long as my room is clean I'm happy. But the Braid Hills Hotel was pretty impressive. The room was huge! I've never stayed in such a large room before. The closet was spacious too...

Edinburgh can be very expensive at weekends and the Braid Hills offers a more economic alternative to staying in the city. There are frequent bus services from just outside (down some steps unless you want to walk a bit further). Braid Hills is a comfortable and rather traditional hotel. We had a room with a view to the city and...

A great hotel run well. The rooms were clean and the bar service and 1886 restaurant food very good. The only downside to improve would be the receptionist on check out this morning did not ask anything about our stay and was it okay. Free car parking and good views of the park and Edinburgh skyline. Will return.

Stayed in double room on 2nd floor, great views, quiet and very comfortable. Location is great if you want to stay a bit out of town but easy to access the centre. Local buses great with several routes available. Nice outside seating area with views.

Stayed here whilst on a business trip to Edinburgh. Rate was extremely reasonable for the quality of the room. Had a large room with a very comfortable bed. Excellent kitchen area which was an added bonus. Bathroom was perfect with powerful hot shower. Breakfast was superb with a good selection of hot and cold foods. Bar area was delightful and...

we paid for a better room - wonderful room but sadly lacking in design. The room became so hot but there was no temperature control which you expect in BW. We have stayed in many. AS with most hotels - no where to put down your toiletries etc - no luggage stools, and almost impossible to do my hair as...

Staff on reception very helpful , upgraded our bedroom as we had poor view from window and no bath. Only slight criticism was breakfast not as good as when we stayed a few years ago. I guess its cutbacks. The bread was the quality of a value brand. No baked beans and tomatoes were only available one morning out of...

A very warm, charming hotel just on the outskirts of Edinburgh. But not too far outside. In a beautiful surrounding community, with a lovely park just across the road. Buses to the centre of Edinburgh run every 10 minutes. Catch either the #11 or 15, no worries within 20 minutes or so you'll find yourself on Princess Street. If you...

My husband and I spent two nights at the South Braid Best Western. We didn't spend a terrible amount of time in the room, as it's location was close enough to all the "attractions" Edinburgh has to offer. Granted, it is about a 2 mile walk to Old Town, but very much worth it, especially if you're lucky enough to...
