Stayed here before and been underwhelmed, but this time was different thanks to the staff. Don't know if there has been a recruitment drive, but the feel of the hotel was very different - in a good way! They were all consistently helpful and went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable. The reception staff in particular deserve...

When you visit this HILTON the brand is what your paying for. The communal areas were nice and clean. My stay was for 3 nights B & B. The buffet breakfast was marvellous but at the end I don't think I got my monies worth. The room (001) was a double which seem as though it had been cobbled together...

Really nice hotel, within walking distance of everything Edinburgh has to offer. Staff & service is excellent. Ample size room with everything you need, some things a bit dated but in fitting with an old beautiful building and surrounds. Would definitely consider staying again.

My daughter and I visited this hotel today for afternoon tea (on a Groupon voucher). We were a bit dubious about going after reading a few bad reviews on here, but decided to try the place anyway. From arriving to leaving, we were treated well. Our lovely waitress Ana was very attentive and couldn't do enough for us. She was...

Great hotel and fantastic location nice clean and tidy which all you want really. This is my second time here and I'm sure I will be back. However for the second time on the trot I find it a mission to order room service it rings and rings with no answer. First time I thought they was just busy ended...

The staff are fantastic and really couldn't do more to help. We were even offered a swig of sherry on arrival (although it was the driest sherry I've ever had sadly!) The hotel however is stuck in the early 90s! The decor (even the newer stuff) is outdated. The bedroom we had was tired and the beds were both so...

As it's a little out of the centre but extremely well located for transport, this hotel turns out to be a bargain, particularly for Edinburgh. We had two single rooms which were a good size and included breakfast. A nice touch was the Bucks Fizz we were offered on Easter Saturday. They've pulled off the trick of having a buffet...

My stay there was very pleasant even though it was short. Hotel staff from the reception desk were super nice and extra helpful. Carried our luggages to the room, water bottles were provided and offered all hhonour member services. My room 159 has very nice garden view and nothing to complain. Breakfast was very good although a bit less international...

I was excited for my stay in Edinburgh, I found the hotel with no problem but ended up having to drive around for an hour trying to park the nearest multi story car park which the hotel offers you discount at is a 15min walk and with cases I didn't really want to do that also it was £28 for...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
