I have stayed here on 3 occasions and would always choose to stay here when we come to Edinburgh. It is right in the centre and you can walk anywhere from here. Flat is well laid out and spacious - well-furnished and equipped and always clean and well looked after.

This is an amazing apartment to rent especially if you are on a school trip. York place is a stroll from Princess Street and the tram passes the door. Omni Centre is down the road for a bite to eat and the Edinburgh Playhouse is easily accessible so you can have a chuckle.

Very spacious and clean apartment at the third floor of a lovely old building right in the centre of Edinburgh. All comforts provided and great view from the windows. Only issue for some traveller is that there is no lift. Would book again.

We booked a short family break to Edinburgh to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday. I did a lot of research before booking York Place after reading the positive reviews on Trip Advisor and checking the location would suit us. We were not disappointed with the location or presentation of the apartment, which was handy for the main shopping street, The...

Stayed here 1 week ago for my hen party with a group of women with ages ranging from 30- 60 and I cannot recommend this place enough. I was initially worried as the price was very reasonable compared to everywhere else so I wasn't expecting it to be up to much but I can honestly say that it was a...

We used the apartments during our stay for my cousins Hen Party in Edinburgh. They were modern and very spacious apartments (perfect for games and dancing!) and had really comfy beds (bonus!) The views were amazing too. I would definitely use these apartments again and recommend to others.

We ordered the apartment with 4 bedrooms. The place is large and clean. But the rooms near the road will be with more noise. other side is so quiet. The location is near to the station, but on the new city part. It is close to the Calton Hill, and around 25 minutes walk to the castle. Edinburgh is not...

I booked the two ground floor apartments for a hen party of 19 women. Everyone was blown away by how nice, spacious and clean the apartments were. The apartments were very clean, everyone had towels and they even provided little bottles of shampoo and shower gel. Also plenty bathrooms, chairs etc. I could not recommend these apartments more and there...

We stayed 2 nights in apartment 3 in early June. Cannot fault it. It was clean, spacious, central and reasonably priced. So near lots of tourist sites, lovely restaurants and pubs that we were able to return several times during the day to rest up.

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
