Lovely hotel. Very friendly staff. Great location. Good value for money. Would definitely recommend. Breakfast was good, fresh and with a good helping of haggis. The lounge is open for guests to enjoy a beer from the fridge with an honesty box system. Relaxing atmosphere.

We must have been very unlucky as the room we were given was in the basement and even if we asked to be changed room, the hotel was full and we could not get anything else. This room is below the ground level, with a tiny window. The ceiling is very low and gives you are very uncomfortable feeling. The room is just below the breakfast dining room and gets noisy quickly. The basement corridor was also cluttered with large bags of bedsheets. All in all, we would not recommend this room. The others may be much better, as per the photos. Be sure to ask before you book or confirm. The location is otherwise nice, a bus ride away from the center, with many buses available.

Really convenient for the university where I was visiting but also close enough to town to get in and about without it being too busy. Very friendly and helpful staff. Tasty breakfast. Comfortable bed, nice and clean. Perfect for my stay. Thanks for having me.

Great location with bus stops out front-ish to easily get downtown. Nice breakfast available in AM. I appreciated the thick towels, light in the bathroom mirror and ability to make instant coffee in my room. There is car parking in back. Our room was comfortable, large and roomy but after looking at these pictures it was probably the runt of the place. We were in the basement under the breakfast dining area (lots of noise in AM) and there was a large amount of laundry bags in the hallway outside our door. We are easy, but if you don’t care for that, I suggest you request a room elsewhere. Overall, I would recommend as we had a nice stay coming and going as we pleased.

Very nice and spacious room with a large bathroom with a character. Very clean, great location and very accomodating team. There was an issue with our booking on day two as the room was double booked, which has inconvenienced us, but the host has taken steps to compensate us. I would recommend.

Stayed here Easter weekend, greeted by a a very friendly and informative guy at reception unfortunately we did not get his name. Explained about things local to the hotel such as places to eat and how to get to town etc. Hotel is located a 40 minute walk from town, if you exit the hotel and turn right it takes you straight into the middle of the Royal Mile, you can get a bus or taxi if the walk is too far for you. Rooms are very clean and comfortable as is the hotel itself, the bed in our room was very comfortable and we slept great with no noise at all from anywhere. Bathroom was spotless and much better than some major chain hotels. Breakfast was superb and the staff cannot do enough for you to accommodate all your requirements and needs and they really do excel at what they do. Always ready to have a chat with you and ask how you are and what you have been doing, lovely friendly people. Nothing negative or bad to say about the hotel and do not believe any reviews that are negative, as there is no substance to any negative comments. Again the hotel is ideally located a short 15 / 20 minute walk (in same direction as the Royal Mile) to plenty of great places to eat and places to get a drink. We would thoroughly recommend the Kildonan Lodge as a place to stay when visiting Edinburgh, location is everything and Kildonan has that. We will be back when we next visit Edinburgh

This was the first stop in our trip to Scotland, and we were welcomed by the very hospitable Chrystal who was both extremely kind, and had lots of local recommendations for getting to know the city. We arrived early and were able to drop off our luggage while we explored the city, and the breakfast was delicious. Would highly recommend!

We stayed as a family for one night in April. The rooms were lovely, it was great to have a room where you can fit 3 people comfortably. Maggie was very helpful in sharing with us how to get around and it was great to find somewhere so central with free parking. I'd stay here again
