Hotel is in a good location and communal areas were clean and presentable (except the toilets by reception, but that feels like an issue with a few disgusting guests rather than the hotel itself!). The main door wasn't in operation during our visit but that wasn't a big deal at all. The room was fine for a base to sleep in, we spent very little time there otherwise as we were out enjoying the city. It was a little dusty and dated in places, the bathroom tiles were a bit grubby but nothing of huge note, just minor faults. Staff were helpful and polite and the coffee and kettle in the room was a nice bonus.

This small hotel, located in what used to be a maternity hospital (!), was exactly what we wanted for our 4-day stay: within walking distance of most Edinburgh attractions and great restaurants; not on a busy street, with windows that shut out the city noises; large and very comfortable rooms; a delicious breakfast; and very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend.

Very nice bank holiday monday stay at this hotel , comfortable room , beds and pillows. Close enough to town and all amenities. Staff are helpful and friendly and hotel provides a good morning breakfast cooked to your preference. The only down side to this hotel is the older staff member on nightshift who clearly doesn't want guests in bar / restaurant, is unhelpful and we could actually hear him talking about other staff members when he first came on shift at reception.

The Hotel was perfect! Filled with history, and within walking distance to the Royal Mile! front desk was exceptional, we got to check in early so we could go exploring. Breakfast was fabulous, service wonderful. Cappuccino machine at breakfast Buffett. Room was very comfortable, great beds, pillows, and shower very hot and good water pressure. Quiet evening for good sleep.

Staff were helpful, breakfast waitress was really lovely. Location is great, you can walk to places from there and avoid being right in the hustle and bustle. Check in process is quick and wifi was good enough. Rooms' size is varied (some quite small and others large enough), with quite nice decoration (some rooms had windows missing blinds and others had the TV set far away from the bed. This is quite a noisy hotel, from the traffic standpoint mainly (for light sleepers, ask for a room away from the roads). Breakfast was okay, coffee is okay (if you get espresso, you'll be avoiding the powder products). Didn't try the restaurant, don't even know if they serve food. The most SHOCKING part to me is the fact that they gave a room key to someone who was not the person staying in the room: I mentioned to a colleague -who I had just met at a work assignment, I was locked out of my room -of her own accord and without me, she decided to go downstairs to the reception desk and ask for a room key for my room... and the staff member at the reception desk gave the new room key to her! I am appalled at how bad that could have gone! …

Here at the end February 23. Very helpful and friendly staff from reception to restaurant. With it being converted from an old hospital the rooms are large with high ceilings. There was no noise at all so had a good night’s sleep. There is limited parking but an NCP is nearby or parking in the street with a meter charge. Its a 5 min walk to the Usher theatre and 10 to the Castle and centre.

Very comfortable hotel in central position. Delightful staff. Excellent breakfasts cooked to order. Neat bar. Not too expensive. Surprisingly quiet. Beware, the main entrance is round the back. Would definitely return.

Leonardo in Edinburgh is a new hotel to me, as is the chain. I must say that, based on the price we paid, this hotel exceeded all expectations. The check in was flawless and the staff were friendly and engaging. My room (312) was a generous size, well furnished and decorated, and very comfortable. The en-suite was also nicely done and included all toiletries as well as good quality towels. Breakfast was charmingly refreshing in that, instead of the ubiquitous buffet, you ordered your cooked breakfast which was brought to you, freshly cooked; and in addition to being very tasty it was substantial. I had the Full Scottish which comprised of egg, bacon, sausage, haggis, black pudding, tattie scone, mushrooms, tomato, hash brown and beans. I didn’t need anything else to eat for the rest of the day! We normally stay in the Premier Inn just along the road, but in my opinion the Leonardo is a better hotel as well as being better value.…

Me and my partner stayed on the ground floor. When entering the room we wasn’t blown away but we immediately felt comfortable. Comfort is a important so that was a big tick for us. There was some parts of the room which needed a bit more detail when cleaning but wasn’t a major issue. The room had everything you could ask for when it comes to facilities although the hairdryer was dated and needed a upgrade. Location was perfect, no need for transport. Staff were great and even topped up on supplies for us, was a good feeling when coming back from our day outs. Wifi was perfect, easy to join, no need to use email to sign in hassle’s. We stayed for 2 nights but would be happy enough to stay longer. Would recommend.

Location is great. Everything is in walkable distance. Check In by William was helpful and smooth. Room, clean and comfortable. Plenty of towels. Tea Coffee Iron Hairdryer all in the room.
