Stayed one night in this hotel. £105 for 2 adults and one child. Room was clean and basic , old fashioned but fitting with the age of the building. However the beds were terrible and uncomfortable , most uncomfortable bed we have ever tried to sleep in. Staff were helpful and breakfast was lovely , within walking distance to playhouse...

Just stayed the one night,in room 7,a twin room although booked a single. Basic room but fine. Coffee and tea and tele. Room was warm and bed and blankets were cosy. Apart from inconsiderate people coming back late(it was a Saturday night)the hotel was quiet. Breakfast was decent too. Help yourself to cereals and juices, cooked brekky brought to your table...

Stayed here for a weekend as going to fringe/tattoo. Quite easy to find and had its own car park at the back. If you park in car park there is a steep flight of stairs to go up, but this is only due to the typical old style Edinburgh buildings, so park at front first and unload your belongings.also no...

We parked outside free after 5.30 Room- basic old fashioned, needs updating, pipes wiring across ceiling. Bed worn lumpy, duvet worn faded. Furniture worn, Bathroom- burgundy needs modernising. We stayed here for two nights whilst attending the British Open at St Andrews. The hotel is set back in a lovely crescent and is very deceptive from the outside as it is much bigger on the inside rather like a TARDIS. The room was average, the window would not close properly and the bathroom was big enough for a...

We stayed here for a long weekend as a group of friends. It's meant to be a 3 star hotel however I would question this star rating. It's quiet dated, tired and grubby looking. It is however clean enough. It's a good walk into the central area also, a lot of nicer hotels closer in.

This is a great hotel for groups and folk who will be out during the day and back late. The hotel is certainly not one for folk looking for a high class hotel experience - it is not that type of place. I was their with a stag group and stayed in a room for 4. The room was quite tight...

The Clearmont Hotel is great value for money considering the reason for our stay. We travelled as a party of 12 for my youngest son's 'stag weekend'. We arrived early to warm welcome from the owner who was more than happy to take our lugage until we returned at 3.00pm to check in. The hotel does what it is says...

“Room 10 where we stayed had an open window (about 2 inches) that would not close!”

“Try to get a room on either the top floor or the basement levels. This is because the hotel caters for groups and you may be distrubed by guests returning to their rooms in the early hours. But beware the hotel does not have a lift. So be prepares for a long haul with your bags up and down the great many stairs. Our room were located adjacent to eath other at basement level. I hope we did not cause any disturbance to the other hotel guests? The bar and function rooms are also located in the basement. But noise was never an issue even though the bar will remain open for as long as hotel guest require. Out roon was located at the front of the building below pavement level. so there were no view to be enjoyed. however rooms to the rear of the building have views out to the north towards Lieth. This because ythe hotel is built on a hill. Our room slept 4 and was very large by any standards. All rooms have en-suit bathrooms. Ours was very large. In fact it was bigger than some modern hotel rooms I have stayed in. Both the room and bathroom were clean. The room also had the basics of tea/coffee facilities, Sky TV and wardrobe/bedside cabinets. The building is very old and would benefit greatly from redecoration throughout. But that said it added to the charecter of the building. As you would expect from this style of hotel, being a number of former adjacent individual houses brought together to form a hotel the layout is a bit like a rabbit warren. But again this adds a certain charm. My only critisisum was the lack of ventilation. I like to sleep with the window open. But for security reasons the two large windows could only be opened around 50mm. Better than nothhing.”
