Was greeted at reception desk by a lovely polite member of staff who quickly checked us in. Was shown a few doors up to a one bedroom apartment up an elegant stairway. The apartment was located on the first floor. It was very tastefully decorated throughout with a beautiful lounge and fully fitted kitchen in a green colour. The lounge...

Very friendly, courteous and attentive staff. We stayed in room 8 for 2 nights during what was, unseasonably cold weather. We found the bed to be rather too small and the duvet too thin. Other than that, the breakfast was first class in terms of both choice and quality. The bar was very well stocked and also offered a good...

We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom apartments. It was fantastic. It was beautifully decorated, spotless and had high quality fixtures in the washrooms and kitchen. The kitchen was huge and you could easily cook full meals as it was stocked with everything you could need.

This is a great boutique hotel, in an amazing location, with generously proportioned rooms. The reception is quite small and hidden around the back, but the super friendly staff made up for that easily. There's a very vibrant watering hole, The Huxley, which offer table service to their well dressed customers. The bar menu is a bit hipster, with Dogs,...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
