We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It had a touch of class. The staff are very hardworking and friendly. The room suites were spacious, clean and very comfortable. Will be returning here in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We've stayed here twice. Lovely staff - they're always willing to help with anything. A beautiful building, with some huge rooms, and a perfect location. It's on a very quiet street, but it's less than 10 minutes walk from the West End of Princes Street. Finally, a great breakfast - plenty of choice and served in your own room!

The best location, the best staff, the best breakfast and the best value! Great for the rugby at Murrayfield, Great for town centre. Can leave car in carpark all day even after checking out for free, given the parking/traffic in Edinburgh then this is perfect! Great Scottish breakfast. Very private, no restaurant or bar but everything private in your room....

I love this place! It is calm and quiet, the service is next to none, the building so beautiful and the views spectacular yet it is so close to the city. The suites are beautifully decorated and maintained and I look forward to visiting again.

This well established time share now owned mostly by HAPIMAG a very successful Swiss time ownership company is a wonderful place to enjoy all the city and surrounding area has to offer. The service is impeccable and the meals both in house and surrounding restaurants are excellent. Parking is a bit tight but very convenient.

I've stayed in The Residence many times, however I haven't stayed in over a year so it was really great to be back. The rooms are just fabulous and I like the space and also the fact breakfast is served in your room - this is great if you are here on business as you can just crack on with...

We have stayed here a couple of times over the last ten years and have always had great service from the staff. The location is great for a trip to Edinburgh, we have been with our own car and when just using taxi's & buses - both are equally convenient. The rooms are large with fabulous views over Dean Village....

The ER is converted old house on the edge of the new town. The floors we were on I could only describe as somewhat labyrinthine (I think there are 5 turns and 4 doors between the stairs and our suite). Each suite seems to be unique (our son's suite was very different than ours), but large and comfortable. It has...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
