This is a beautiful hotel in Edinburgh set in a beautiful building. The lobby is welcoming and has an air of sophistication. Our room was spacious, clean and modern, the bathroom decor was too, excellent. We dinned at the no 1 restaurant and frequented the bar on a number of occasions. But the stand out point was the concierge... from the...

Took my friend to the Palm Court for afternoon tea as she's not been before and as always didn't disappoint. Great atmosphere, tea selection and yummy cakes and sandwiches. They even took note of pre-booked dietary requests from an online booking. Also no problem with Boxing leftovers for home. 100 times better than the Shard in London

Another lovely stay. One of the best spas I've had in a hotel and the gym is perfect for a quick session. Clean, water and fruit available. Lovely. Slightly pricey breakfast but hey, it's a great spot. Very nice job; thanks for having me again!

expensive but worth it ! Room excellent, restaurant superb, and the staff were very helpful and courteous. I will be back ! Very poor weather, but staying at the Balmoral made it all worth while. Beautiful decor from the reception area, to the hallways, and then the room itself.

We had 2 nights at this hotel and it was truly spectacular. Our room was overlooking the castle which was an extra charge worth paying for. Food in the bistro for breakfast was varied and of high quality. Totally recommend this property for a special weekend break!

Balmoral embodies the essential Scottish luxury hotel experience and location, location, location. Hop off the cross-country TGV train at Waverley Station and just up the stairs. Modernized in all respects and good value for the cost. Staff is wonderful.

Excellent as always, apart from the chilly banquet room, good food and wine. The room was very well appointed and clean. The breakfast was one of the best I've had anywhere. Staff are very professional and friendly.

My family and I went to Edinburgh for the weekend and we booked to stay at the Balmoral Hotel. Having 2 young children I was a little bit unsure as to how receptive the hotel would be to 2 active boys being in the hotel. The hotel was absolutely superb. From the time we arrived the children were spoilt royally,...

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
