Fantastic location, next to the train station and bus routes, lets you feel in the centre of everything ! Big £, but a special hotel with nice rooms and apart from one grumpy senior member of staff the hotel staff were amazing and incredibly accommodating and helpful.

If you can, get a seat at the bar. To see the bar tenders here making cocktails is something else. Each one is an absolute masterpiece, just simply beautiful!! And the tastes and flavours are ones not to be missed!! For me, I would say have a few as a nice treat, and they are definitely worth every penny for...

We decided to have breakfast on my birthday and I must say that I did not expect this reaction from a hotel with this prestige! When we got to the breakfast area after we phone asking if we could book they mentioned that they do not taking booking but we were very welcome to just pop by. Unfortunately we were...

Dear thiagodecastro Thank you for your review following your celebratory breakfast experience at Hadrian's Brasserie. I am pleased to read that you enjoyed the food and service. However, It is always disappointing to learn that a guest has left feeling less than completely satisfied and I am truly sorry. All our guest feedback is extremely valuable and I thank you...

This hotel not only has an absolutely stunning interior and exterior, but also has an amazing location (right above the train station) and is in the heart of the city. Not to mention, JK Rowling finished her last book here, so there that as well;) All of the staff here are very helpful and friendly; be sure to ask them...

I really enjoyed my stay at the Balmoral. I felt that the location was super central for walking and the furnishings were updated and beautiful. The gym facility was superb although rather cold, bring a jacket! We only had two issues during our stay. We tried for about six hours to have our beds split. We called down, as well...

Booked my mother in here as part of her 60th birthday celebrations, did not stay myself but dealt with the hotel via phone and email to arrange a few things and nothing was too much hassle for them. My mother has raved about the service, room with a view and food for both evening meal and breakfast. Thank you to...

From the kilted doormen, to the stag's head in the lobby and not to mention the hundreds of varieties of Scotch whisky behind the bar, there is little doubt that you have arrived in Scotland. Located well for Waverley Station, fine shopping along Princes Street, and yet only 10 minutes from Scotland's first city's favourite sights - the Balmoral is...

We booked in here very last minute because we checked out of the Crowne Plaza Edinburgh because that was just plain dreadful. The Balmoral was everything we expected. Welcoming doorman. Delightful receptionist and very well informed concierge. Rooms were bright and comfortable. Spotlessly clean rooms corridors and loos. We will come again for sure. Well done and thank you!

A few steps from Waverly station but did not notice any train noise. Short walk to major sites., dining, and shopping. Clean. Courteous staff. Good sized room. Pool and spa. Would stay there again if I were in Edinburgh. Nice breakfast menu.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
