I was given a Spa stay for my 30 th Birthday and it is by far the best gift I have ever had. The staff couldn't do enough for us and everything was taken care of in terms of spa treatments and restaurant reservations. Claire in the spa was wonderful and did a great job with my treatments. Thank you...

Our room was large and comfortable It would be more helpful if coffee tea facilities were in the room Location perfect service in Hadrians for dinner very slow.you appear to be under staffed The check out was spoilt as they had a 75 pound charge for high speed internet which we didn't order. After discussion the front desk girl waived...

Lovely stay in the Balmoral Hotel it's a grand old lady with great service but also the interior has been well modernised. The room was huge the bathroom lovely and clean and great REN products also add a touch of class. The breakfast is very very extensive and yummy but can imagine it gets busy as kind of small room...

Stunning hotel in a great location! We were at hotel for 3 days. When we arrived one of the hotel staff literally jumped out and eagerly helped us with our bags however after we have him a handsome tip, the next time we saw him which was a half hour later, he seemed to have forgotten who we were. I very much enjoyed my four night stay at the Balmoral. The location is extraordinary if you are taking trains in and out of the city--simply at the top of the escalator from the main station and within walking distance of all of the major sights. The staff is very friendly and the hotel is quiet and comfortable. It is...

Upon entering this beautiful hotel, one is immediately welcomed into the magnificent lobby adorned with a table arrangement of flowers and a cathedral ceiling. It was worth taking a photo from one floor up looking down. Curbside was attentive with help for the luggage as we were easily checked in. We were upgraded to Suite 152. The three rooms were...

Just booked our third trip to Edinburgh this summer, and The Balmoral. This is truly a special place, historical, in the center of town, But what really makes this place special is the staff, and especially the doorman and concierge team. Our favorite rooms are the junior suites, very spacious. Don't forget to try their Whiskey bar, we learned so...

This is a great hotel in a great location in Edinburgh. It manages to combine both a quirky charm with a very contemporary service. The staff is excellent and they make you feel personally welcomed in what is, in fact, a large hotel.

Wonderful hotel, in a prime location. We were going on a Royal Scotsman train trip, so The Balmoral was the perfect compliment to our journey. The staff, the food, and the quality of service were all excellent.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
