The wife chose this accommodation from reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed, very friendly staff, rooms comfortable, lovely breakfast, good location to the city buses stop out the front. Nothing was to much trouble for our host right down to my two perfectly cooked boiled eggs and soldiers. Thanks for a great stay.

I was only over for the night at this location, the room was adorable with curtains above the bed, very quaint and pretty, there was meant to be wine we understood at check - which we never found but beyond that it was a comfortable room, soft bed, lovely little B&B all in all albeit a little further out from...

We stayed for 4 nights and everything was just great. Nice and cosy, good service, nice spaceious and clean rooms, and easy access to city centre. This is not a five star top of The class hotel, but exellent value for money and highly recommendable for an Edinbourgh trip with friends.

We had booked to stay in this hotel for four nights while attending the Ryder Cup in September 2014. We had booked through booking.com in December 2013 and had a confirmation email regarding the booking. On arrival in Edinburgh we were informed that there had been a mistake with our booking and the hotel was now fully booked and could...

We stayed for three nights. The hotel was easy to find and accesible by bus from centre. The room was excellent, actually is the one in the picture. We were a family of three and they set the sofa for our son and we had a lot of space left. We really liked how they adapted the bathroom and the...

We stayed overnight in this hotel and from entering the reception to having our bags carried out to the car, I could not fault the pleasant and helpful staff at this hotel. The room was a good size and beautifully decorated and freebees of wine and chocolate got our trip off to an excellent start. Breakfast was cooked to order...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
