Hotel room had a lot or wear and tear. Carpet, furniture and lighting badly in need of replacing. However the bathroom and bedlinen were spotless, which helped me overlook the tatty room.

Travelodge Edinburgh Dreghorn is often praised for its clean and comfortable rooms, though a few guests have encountered issues with odors and outdated fixtures. Its atmosphere is appreciated for cozy beds and ample amenities, making it a solid value despite some minor complaints. While the quiet setting is a highlight for many, occasional noise can be a concern. The service is generally friendly, and the location is well-regarded for its convenience to Edinburgh's attractions. However, mixed reviews are given for dining options and maintenance.

I use this hotel regularly and unfortunately see it dropping in standard each time I go. Considering the charges that it makes, especially at weekends where prices can be double or triple the mid week rate, it certainly is no longer a value for money option.
However, personally it is convenient, but I only use it when unable to book into a local hotel which is increasing in popularity, partly due to the deterioration of Dreghorn. With no real facilities nearby, unless you call Starbucks an ideal breakfast/evening meal location the lack of somewhere to go just exacerbates the issue. It is only a matter of time till convenience is no longer worth paying for and I will begin to look further afield.
It's a shame that despite the shortcomings, the staff have always been exceptionally good and certainly , deserve the compliments for trying to maintain customer loyalty despite receiving little obvious support from the company in providing them with the standard of hotel which would make th proud.

Early check-in was allowed for a minimal fee, and even though I was an hour earlier than noon, they found a room that was ready for me, which was a very nice gesture from them. Located a bit far from the Old Town, but in a nice area. The room was good, sleep was comfortable. Cleanliness was good overall although minor dust. I would recommend that place.

Arrived a couple of hours before check in after a 5 hour drive. Did not expect to get in the room until 3 but the lady checked us straight in. She very kindly explained about the buses and where to find it as I did not want to drive into the city every day. The room was clean, tidy and warm. No issues at all with any facility or cleanliness. There is a costa coffee next door to the hotel which has a small selection of food but you can either find food places close by or order takeaway to be delivered. The nearest main road is nearly 1/4 of a mile away so no traffic noise at all. It is a good 10 minutes walk to the bus which is every 15 minutes but the bus ride is pleassnt and for the distance relatively quick and saves stress driving and parking in the centre. We would most definitely recommend this place when visiting Edinburgh and will be staying when next visiting Scotland

We stayed here as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) for 4 nights. The location is handy for getting in and out of Edinburgh City centre and also for accessing the motorway. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. There is a handy vending machine in the lobby, containing drinks and snacks, and there is also a Starbucks next door, which was great for grabbing a coffee before heading out for the day.

Our room was disappointing, however. It was facing the motorway and very dark. The carpet was very dirty - I noticed when we were leaving one morning that they had a robot vacuum cleaning the corridors and I wonder was this used on the room as well, because there were definitely areas of the carpet that looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The king bed wasn't made up properly, the sheets weren't tucked in the whole way round so as soon as we got in to it, the sheet pulled down and exposed the bare mattress. We had to strip and remake the bed ourselves as the duvet was also put on sideways. The website states each king bed comes with 4 pillows, however ours only had 2 and they were quite small. With that said, the bed was quite comfortable, so once we had the sheets and duvet sorted it was pleasant to sleep in.

We left the tag out on our door to ask to have our tea topped up, and when we got back that night there was fresh tea/coffee sachets, and also a pile of towels (which we hadn't asked for) left on the bed. However, the beds hadn't been made, nor were they on any of the other days of our stay. I'm not sure if it's company policy not to have the beds made daily but it seemed a bit odd. When we pulled the bed out from the wall a bit to re-make it, we noticed that underneath the bed was absolutely filthy and there was mould on the wall and carpet.

Overall, the hotel suited our needs in terms of being a base where we could sleep at night and leave our stuff while we were out sightseeing, but I don't think I'd stay again for more than one night.

We looked at the reviews and this hotel got a mixed bag. On arrival 21/12/22 by taxi, the hotel was well signposted and a staff member was on the reception desk. We were given a choice of ground floor or 1st floor which was a nice touch ( not just given a key ), we asked for a hairdryer and was promptly given one. The room was clean and stocked well of tea/coffee but more importantly SUGAR to cater if you want a second cup. The shower was fantastic with enough towels, and we headed out for the evening. On return to the hotel my wife wanted a water from the machine, it took our £2.10 ( bit pricey for a small bottle of water ) on contactless payment, but didn’t dispense our bottle, the staff member apologised and gave us back the £2.10, issue resolved with the minimum of fuss. They have a Starbucks attached to the hotel, for food and another coffee if needed. On a final note, the views as you leave the hotel are lovely, overall a really good stay.

Stopover whilst visiting the Edinburgh Christmas Market and attractions. This specific Travelodge has a free car park with plentiful spaces. Starbucks nextdoor. Clean, comfortable and large rooms however basic standards were high. We were checked in by ANTHONY and he was very imformative and professional. We were offered a choice of ground or 1st floor rooms, Anthony gave us a room in a desgnated quiet corridor and we appreciated this gesture. The following day we were met by RHYS, who was just as attentive. Great value for money and we would return here.

I used to think that once you had been to one Travelodge you'd been to them all, but of course this is not the case. The one at Dreghorn, in my opinion is above average and one of the better ones.

Check-in was quick and easy and the reception staff told me several useful things. The room was clean. There is Starbucks immediately next door which opens at 0700 each morning and if earlier than that, the next door petrol station sells a variety of sandwiches, Cornish pastries, and similar as well as having a Costa Coffee express machine.

The location is of course on the extreme outskirts of Edinburgh, just off the bypass but there are buses into town and it is located in a nice area.

Easy access to the Pentland Hills which can be accessed across the bridge over the bypass. A mere couple of minutes walk at most. There is also a big Morrisons hypermarket/supermarket just ten minutes walk away. Cross the road outside the Travelodge/petrol station into the Swanston Muir housing area, follow through into the new Swanston housing are and you're there. Really just minutes walk in a safe, nice area.

Downside? Depending on when you stay here it can be either moderately priced or expensive. August, the month of the Edinburgh Festival was in the high end.....but then just about everywhere in Edinburgh is.

This is the 3rd time I've stayed here, twice with family and once alone and I would return.

The pillows were hard . The breakfast box’s were a joke . I didn’t realise what a box was as I’ve never heard of a breakfast box at a hotel. The receptionist wouldn’t let me cancel them for the next 2 days either so I couldn’t even get a refund and I ordered 6 boxes for 3 days . The hotel room never got cleaned at all the next day and the bin was overflowing, no clean cups etc .

Firstly may I say we found the staff friendly and helpful. We chose this travelodge as its not too far from the city centre as most hotels in the city either don't have car parks or us chargeable parking. This hotel is great for local transport ( bus) about a 5 minutes walk to the bus that takes you into the city centre. A family day ticket cost £10.50. As opposed to when we parked near the castle at a cost of £5.90 an hour.
The room was clean and tidy so no issues there. There's a free car park at this hotel.
For anyone looking for value for money this hotel was half the price of a hotel 3 miles down the road in the city centre. We'd certainly stay here again

Bus 16 from the City Centre at Princes Street has a stop about a quarter mile from the hotel. It's an easy walk with a pavement along the roadside. Bus fare is £2.
