Like everyone else did a Google search for hostels and found this one near or at the top and it has deservedly earned its spot. Service - Everyone was absolutely polite and extremely helpful, if they didn't have the answer they made every possible effort to find it for you. Cleanliness - The entire place was clean from top to...

OMG! Best hostel experience I've had in my 5 months of travelling! It's a small hostel and I think that's what makes it so great, because you feel like you're part of the family. The facilities are good, the free breakfast is a buffet pretty much and the staff are just amazing! They keep it sooo clean and create such...

I went alone to Edinburgh by car on a 4-days trip. The hostel was perfect for its location, near the train station and a pubic car park. Lovely staff, helpful all the time. Toilets and rooms always clean. And there is free coffee and milk all day!

I enjoyed staying at the Hostel, though it was an incredibly busy time. I loved that breakfast was provided and that the staff was always around, and sometimes sleeping the larger rooms with you. Lots of stairs, and hidden a bit. Lovely stay though it was so busy we had to split up into different rooms but they were very...

Quiet location, super friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast and a great location. WiFi wasn't the greatest, but they're trying to fix it. Busses just outside give grateful access to anywhere you want to go.

The hostel is in a great location. It was very easy to find. The Royal Mile is just about a 5-10 minute walk away. When we arrived at the hostel check-in was very smooth. However, once we went to our room, one of the bed that was meant to be ours had not been stripped. It was obvious that no...

Haggis was the perfect hostel because it was very very close to the train station, and super walkable to everything like the Holyrood Park and the castle. I had a great stay! The staff was very helpful.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
