My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a surprise trip to Edinburgh for my wife's birthday. We have nothing but positive feedback for this hotel and staff. Check in was fast, staff were helpful and kept our bags for us to go out and enjoy the day as check in time was 4pm but they told us they...

Very comfortable room with kitchen facilities. Slightly out of city centre but set in a pedestrian area so no traffic noise. Breakfast very good but eating area a little cramped. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return to this hotel.

We visited the hotel for 2 nights and we haven't got a bad thing to say. Really good location, great free breakfast and the location is spot on. The staff can't do enough for you,I left my straighteners in the room when we left and they posted them out to me the same day. The rooms are massive and so clean....

Very modern hotel apartments with fully fitted kitchens, full living room. Very modern. Almost too big! This has just what most people need on business or leisure - no overpriced hotel restaurant, but restaurants and shops right next door. Close to the castle and all sights. And very good value. Seemingly this was built as a set of exec apartments...

The Residence inn is in an excellent location, 5-10 minute walk upto the royal mile. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes around, a starbucks and sainsburys local are in the next building. On arrival we were greeted by very helpful, friendly staff. Check in is 4pm and we arrived at 10am, which we knew was too early, but wanted...

The room was very large and spacious, clean, well decorated and ticked all the boxes. The service was very good and the breakfast was also faultless with plenty to choose from. The location was good also and only a short walk in to the centre of the old town.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here over night. We were greeted with a beautiful reception area and kind staff. We arrived 5 hours before our check in time however they kindly let us leave our luggage at their storage area so we could comfortably enjoy our day exploring. When we arrived back we got to our hotel room and I...

Located just a stone's throw from Edinburgh's old town, the Residence Inn is situated in a wonderful location near a Starbucks, grocery store, many restaurants and the Meadows, which is one of Edinburgh's largest parks. The rooms are great. The one-bedroom suite has a full kitchen (dishwasher, oven, stovetop and refrigerator). The staff was also very friendly and helpful and...

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
