Our room was dirty with what looked like dandruff and hair covering one chair and our bed stand. Would not recommend this hotel for the indifferent service and lack of cleanliness. After checking in and settling down, we noticed dandruff and hair next to our bedside table and on the notepad. I called to see if there was another room...

Hello Hellotqoe I am disappointed to read your comments regarding your stay with us several months ago. I can assure you that cleanliness is one of our key focuses and is under constant review to ensure we exceed our own high standards and we have not quite managed it on this occasion. Despite the efforts of several members of our...

My wife and i stayed at the Residence Inn, Edinburgh, Scotland for [4] days. Staff was excellent. Rooms were very good, but a bit smaller than expected. Hotel is within 1-2 blocks of the University of Edinburgh. Also it is an easy 10 minute walk to the Royal Mile. Great restaurant next door. There is an underground parking lot in...

We are Marriott Rewards Gold members, so whenever possible we try to stay in Marriotts when traveling. The Residence Inn Edinburgh is the best Marriott I've stayed at in some time. I'll review the following: customer service, food, location and the room. The customer service was what I expect when staying at Marriotts. Everyone from the front desk attendants to...

I've stayed at this hotel on a few occasions now . It's in a great location and within easy walking distance to many of the attractions Edinburgh has to offer . The rooms are spacious and comfortable , they even have a small kitchen area , not that I've ever made use of it, but the fridge is handy for...

It's very hard to find, but OK value and clean and functional. The room (416) was a very good size, included a small kitchen area and a comfortable seating area. This is my second stay here and whilst unremarkable I have no complaints and wouldn't have a problem staying again.

My wife, four year old daughter and I stayed at this hotel for five nonconsecutive nights in February 2016. First and foremost, the hotel is reasonably priced and is in an excellent location. You just can't beat the location as it is a 10 to 15 minute walk to the Royal Mile. Starbucks is right around the corner. The black...

Nice big room. Good range of hot and cold food at breakfast. Short walk into the attractions. Think their room designer was trying to be clever and failed as the bathroom layout really doesn't work in a number of aspects. Overall not bad for the price.

The Residence Inn Edinburgh belongs to the Marriott chain and is located in the Quartermile district. It's about 5-10 minutes walk away from the Royal Mile, 15-20 minutes from the main train station (Waverly) and I would think it takes 15 minutes or so to the Edinburgh castle. Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
