We stayed here on a Saturday night for a base whilst in Edinburgh. It was easy to find, next to the commonwealth pool, with car parking. The building itself is impressive with beautiful wooden panelling and moldings, stain glass and the most ornate painted ceiling - just stunning. The reception staff couldn’t have been more helpful, ensuring that we were comfortable and pointing us in the right direction into the centre using the local bus service directly across the road. Our room was beautiful. Obviously refurbished recently. Very clean with the most stunning bathroom. Lovely furniture with a really comfy bed which was bliss after walking throughout the city. Breakfast was lovely too. Buffet style with fresh fruit, pastries and continental meat then cooked to order hot breakfasts. Highly recommend a stay here. Perfect to explore the city.

One night stay and on arrival like other reviewers we had not appreciated the hotel in located on the university campus. Parking was a problem to start with but having checked in we moved the car and found a space. It’s free parking. The staff at hotel were young and very friendly. Our room was on first floor. There is no lift but we were offered help with luggage. Room was very spacious and bed comfortable for a good nights sleep. We ate in the restaurant which is in another hotel next door. The meal was excellent as was the waiter who looked after us in a friendly and amusing manner. We loved that meal. Breakfast next morning was not so well served. Food was okay when it arrived but we had to ask twice to make the hot food order. We suspect there was a mix up with our order and other guests got their food quickly and one got an exact order to what we had ordered before us, we think it went to their table instead of ours. A bit chaotic.

Stayed here recently with my partner for a weekend away for her birthday. It was quite an expensive stay, costing us over £200 per night. But because the reviews were good and the photos looked great we were happy to pay that. As we were driving through the area we were happy with the surroundings, however we then turned into the students university campus, and I knew the hotel was near to the university but I didn’t know it was located on the campus right next to the halls? Also couldn’t find parking so had to park in the halls car park. Checked in and the woman at reception was really friendly and helpful. They took our bags up to the room for us. I also paid extra for champagne, strawberries and rose petals, totalling to around £70. When we got into the room the champagne and strawberries were both warm. Okay, fair enough we didn’t arrive until 9pm and I assume the champagne was set up when the room was cleaned around 12 maybe. However why was I not informed before hand that this would be the case? I’m not eating strawberries that have been out of the fridge for 9 hours. I am a chef and anything that is out of the fridge for that long is a food safety violation! I managed two glasses of the warm champagne which was around £50 just for that and wasted the rest. Very disappointed. Maybe it was my fault for assuming that they’d have a fridge in the room to put this stuff in or that they’d ask my arrival time so that they could prepare it ready for our arrival. On our departure I actually spoke to a lovely man at reception who apologised and told me management would be in touch and potentially discuss a partial refund. I have had nothing from them. I don’t really care about the refund. Not happy about the wasted £50 but I just wanted management to acknowledge it. We had breakfast included in our stay which was tasty. But had it not been included I would not pay extra for it. There just wasn’t much choice. Good for my partner and I but for vegans and people with food intolerances there’s pretty much nothing you could have. I really don’t like leaving bad reviews but the lack of communication from the management after me paying for warm champagne and strawberries is just not good enough.

No no no this just won’t do. Came to Edinburgh for 3 day stay and wanted to cram in as many activities/shows/tours as we could but the bed at The Scott wouldn’t let us. It has to be the most comfortable bed ever, with top quality pillows and duvet. Linens were Snow White and smelt so fresh. A tastefully decorated room with an amazing bathroom. Soft fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries. Kettle and coffee/ tea biscuits and chocolates. The breakfast was cooked to order and delicious all served by lovely staff. Good selection of continental meats, cheeses and breads. Lots of orange juice to boot. Yes the location is on a uni campus but we had no disturbance at all. No problems parking. Two picky things were unable to get wifi and the breakfast table for two were very small but hey ho we could have moved to a different table (we didn’t) and we had good signal for internet anyway. would definitely recommend and would love to come back as long as you get rid of the bed. Thank you to all the staff fora lovely stay.

So disappointed when we arrived to see the hotel located as part of the university of Edinburgh grounds. The hotel building is beautiful but it has limited car parking and does feel like you are part of the university campus - not the vibe I was going for. The room was well decorated but extremely small especially when you take into account the slopping ceilings. It didn’t feel like the room had been finished as there was still a hole around a sensor/alarm in the ceiling. Parking was a nightmare with only 8 spaces available in the main car park linked to the hotel. It was much busier surrounding the hotel than I had been lead to believe with traffic noise from the road and people walking by on campus. I wouldn’t stay here again and was completely underwhelmed by the stay. Really disappointing!

Scott hotel located in university grounds. Beautiful outside but rooms on the inside poor. Avoid ground floor as “ executive double rooms are at best singles 10 ft x 9ft ….so small and claustrophobic with high window sills starting at 5ft ! Worse still, corridors are narrow / grey and like an escape maze game , no natural light and you can lose yourself for hours trying to navigate corridors. Redevelopment of the internal parts, especially ground floor of this hotel are for disappointing and room sizes have profit rather than comfort in mind - no more than 2-3 star rating from us i’m afraid. Dining room is lovely decoratively speaking but again, table sizes are 2ft square, close together and space for eating is really poor and uncomfortable. Sorry but wont recommend this hotel purely on the above.

This is situated within the university campus it’s a beautiful building and within walking distance to the centre if you don’t mind a walk. I was greeted with a very warm welcome and reception that were fantastic and super helpful. The room (executive double) was fairly small but very well appointed. Personally I would rather have a small lovely room than acres of awful. A spectacular bathroom. The bed was great and really comfy. So why not a five star review? Basically the light in the ceiling could not be turned off without removing the room key then the tv and bathroom lights wouldn’t work (I removed the bulb) and the WiFi didn’t work. However all was forgiven once I’d enjoyed a lovely breakfast.
