Hotel was clean and centrally located. Very friendly and helpful staff. Bed was very comfortable and I got a great sleep! Room was clean and fresh. Tea and coffee readily available. Shower pressure was strong and temperature was excellent.

Stayed here for 3nights during the Easter break. It was a perfect base for exploring all that the fabulous city has to offer. Walking distance to everything. It is very basic but we expected this when booking so there was no surprise. I could not fault our stay here, the room and bathroom were both spotless clean, nice modern decor,...

The staff was very helpfull, allthough a mail request has not been fulfilled, even though, we received an online confirmation. The room was spacious and clean. The location is convenient, the main attractions are easy to reach by Walking and there are less tourists around.

Nice hotel no problems. We have stayed here a couple of times whilst visiting family at University in Edinburgh. Fine hotel which is as you would expect. Good value, clean and comfortable. Nearby express Coop and Salisbury useful.

We have stayed here 3 times before and were very happy on each visit, however this time we stayed in the family room on the ground floor and it was grubby. Marks on the walls and the carpet didn't look like it had been vaccumed. When we returned each afternoon after the cleaners had been it looked like all they...

Unclean rooms, cold, not safe, shower water pressure was awful. Was expecting a proper third bed, but just got a pull out guest bed which was poor and okay in comfort but for the money being spent would have expected a proper bed.

Located on a picturesque street, close to the main Princes Street, this hotel is within walking distance of amenities and many of Edinburgh's landmarks. We were allocated a family room at the front of the hotel overlooking a leafy park and with a view of the sea. The room was spacious, airy and clean. The staff were fantastic- friendly, attentive, patient...

Unobtrusive frontage on Queen Street conceals standard Travelodge accommodation. All perfectly satisfactory, with helpful staff and comfortable basic rooms. No breakfast is provided except for optional 'breakfast boxes' but there are many places to eat within a 5 minute walk. The hotel was quiet except for some early morning bin activity in the lane to the rear - typical city...

Spent two nights (7 & 8 April) at Travelodge Queen Street, Edinburgh, and it was a good experience. 5 minute walk from Waverley Train Station, the hotel is located on Queen Street, between Hanover Street and Frederick Street. Very close to restaurants, bars, shops and easy walk of all the sights. Great price, very clean and comfortable room. Asked for...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
