Great hotel, just round the corner from the station. They held bags pre and post check in/out so it made the trip hassle free. Staff were helpful and the room was comfy and clean. I would 100% stay here again.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel when we went up to Edinburgh for a few days. The hotel is in a really great location, especially if you are arriving by train into Edinburgh Waverley. It is a very short walk to the hotel from here and even when you have checked out of your room you can leave...

Standard Travelodge - basic but good price (though not as cheap as some). This one is in a fantastic location in central Edinburgh, close to shopping and sightseeing, could walk to most places of interest. Room was quite noisy, but otherwise a good stay.

I stayed here on the 30th of December to go to the Paolo Nutini gig. I have to say I was impressed. This hotel is in a fab location. Check in was very efficient. The receptionist was very friendly and had a wee chat, she seemed genuinely interested in our plans. I have to say I was surprised with the...

I drove from Chesterfield, Derby to Edinburgh, Scotland and the stay was comfortable but I was just annoyed that there was no parking facility available. Good that it was Christmas and followed with Boxing day and there was no charge when parked on the paid parking areas. Else I would have spent a lot of time and money in searching...

Ideal location for short break in Edinburgh. Close to Princes Street and the castle and perfect if taking in a show at the Playhouse. The hotel is basic but comfortable and reception staff were super. Plenty of places close by for breakfast.

I tend to stay in many Travelodge hotels for work and most are daily decent, however the staff here were really warm and welcoming and fun, great humour and helpful local knowledge, please send them to train the Aberdeen staff in customer care as they'd benefit hugely from the Edinburgh team. Hotel was very clean and the location was perfect,...

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
