This was a great place to crash at a long day of travel. Our carpets were filthy but we just wore our socks! It was nice to have our bags checked after checkout so we could finish up sightseeing for the day!

The location of this hotel is amazing, it's literally just off Princes Street & 2 minutes from Waverley Station. The lane the hotel entrance is located down isn't exactly safe looking, it's totally fine during the day but at night not so much. Luckily there were 2 of us and it's just off a main street so it was fine...

This hotel was located in a useful central location near Waverley Station and that was a good thing. The room was also mostly clean. However, the entrance was located down a dingy back alley and no effort had been made to make it nicer (no lights/ big sign). The room was cavernous and lacked any decoration or personality, it was...

Hotel is central , clean and has friendly staff. It is just across the road from Waverly station and where you get dropped by the Air-link bus from the Airport . I ts easy to get to the old town and is quite at night

We stayed in room 209 which had brilliant views over the old town and castle. It was a huge family room with plenty of space for 4 of us. We knew about the entrance being pretty grotty (and it was!) but this didn't spoil our stay. I think we were lucky with our room as not all rooms faced the...

stayed in many travelodges but was dissapointed in this one, firstly, the sash they put accross the bed...i know its for show, but this was filthy, only one chair in the room (number 202) and this had a buckled leg, the mirror was filthy, greasey hand marks all over it, the two towels we had on arrival had seen better...

Sometimes, an hotel described as being 'central' really isn't. This Travelodge lived up to expectations. Spacious rooms but rather bare! We spent some time trying to work out what the building was before it was a Travelodge. One of our rooms looked out onto Princes street. We found reception staff a little offhand on check in but fine after that....

Great central location. Visited Edinburgh for D of E presentation at the palace. The room was spacious and clean and the staff all extremely helpful. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
