Overall we were very happy with our short stay at the Apex Grassmarket. Clean with friendly staff. Very good location for main visitor attractions. Breakfast area can get a little busy at times but staff were always there to clear and clean as soon as a table was vacated.

My room had the most beautiful and exceptional view of Edinburgh Castle but I paid extra for that anyway! It is in a great location as close to main historic places in the city but I think for a 4 start hotel it needs a bit of upgrading . Staff was friendly so overall my stay in this hotel was very pleasant .

We had a balcony, castle view room. it was beyond our expectations. Very comfortable and had great amenities in the room. Bathroom was beautiful and functional. View was spectacular. We felt very at-home here. Will return if we visit Edinburgh again. Also, great to be in Grassmarket - with close proximity to the Old Town and great pubs!

Lovely hotel, great location, very clean, lovely room, comfy beds, great quality linen, and a pool/sauna to relax the aching muscles, bars/restaurants across the roads. Something for everyone and a short walk to the royal mile. Will definitely stay here again

Went for a stopover to Edinburgh to visit some sights and be central . Room was small and a bit jaded , great view of the castle and Grassmarket. Staff were super friendly and helpful.Breakfast was ok but scrambled eggs were overdone , not a huge variety for the continental either . Worth the money … probably not .

I stayed here for two nights as a base to explore the city and I was lucky enough to get an upgrade to balcony castle-view room. The facilities of the room were excellent with a mini-fridge, espresso machine, big fluffy towels and a comfortable robe. The bed was just the right level of firm, and while the pillows were a touch soft for my liking, piling them up worked well. Staff were friendly and helpful, and while I never took advantage of the restaurant, the menu was intriguing. All the excellent amenities pale to the view however, which was absolutely fantastic - must be one of the best in the city overlooking the Grassmarket and Castle. You really cannot ask for much better!

Nice rooms and very friendly service. For us is the Apex Grassmarket the best place to stay in Edinburgh. Nice pubs around the hotel and just a 4 minute walk to the royal mile. The beds have a good comfort. All fine. Thanks for 3 perfect days.

Absolutely fabulous. From the moment we arrived until the minute we left staff were friendly and helpful, room was great, very comfy beds and the location was perfect for exploring with a great view of the castle . Good choice of drinks in the bar we didn't eat but the food we saw looked great!

Really great hotel, in the centre of the old town (I think! Grassmarket area.) with a spectacular view of the castle. The hotel is spotless, staff very friendly and the food is great. We had board only but had a few breakfasts and an evening meal, food delicious. The Royal mile and Prince's Street within walking distance (Beware, Edinburgh is hilly so lots of steep inclines and steps!). There is lots to see in the area so great for seeing Edinburgh. Five stars!
