The location is great but this is the weirdest hotel we have ever visited. Our room was 3 floors beneath the main lobby and there were three different sets of stairs and no functional elevator. It is like a maze inside. The elevator would only go 2 floors down and then we had to climb more stairs. The shower flooded the bathroom. The thermostat never worked. The bed was as hard as a rock. There is nowhere to park to pick up or drop off due to construction in front of the hotel. Our check in was delayed until nearly 5 pm because they had no clean rooms. This hotel is extremely overpriced for the service, atmosphere, functionality, and check in process. Stay anywhere else.

Hotel's Favourite
Centrally located hotel. We are gold Hilton honors members and loved our executive king size modern room. What I did notice was the sound proofing - it was quite amazing. We had a front facing room on floor 3 and I didn’t hear a sound all night, Breakfast was a disappointment ( mainly due to having to pre-order a time slot). We were late handing in our booking slip for the next morning and could only get an 0800 slot which was slightly too early for our holiday so we skipped breakfast. I’m desperately looking forward to the buffets coming back again post Covid and executive lounge being re-opened! Efficient booking in - friendly staff. We will be back!

We really enjoyed the Hilton Edinburgh Carlton. It is steps from the Royal Mile. It is extremely clean and very well maintained. The breakfast is great! The bed is very comfortable and the room was spacious. Our location was very quiet. Everyone working there was very friendly and helpful. Our only concern was that we were on Floor "Minus Two." It involved taking the lift up a floor, walking through the restaurant/bar area, going down some steps, up some steps, and taking another lift down to "Minus Two." If you have any mobility issues (we did not, fortunately) you need to request a room in the main hotel.

Nice air conditioner and rooms are nice. Beds were very hard though. I was also double charged and still waiting for the credit to appear. If it does not appear soon I will just file a dispute with my credit card company. Not sure how that even happens.

We arrived at the hotel before noon so we left our luggage and went on our way. When we returned to check in, we were processed by a female staff member that spoke spanish and told us she was from Equatorial Guinea, which is the only country in Africa that speaks spanish. That was quite interesting to meet someone from there. She was very nice, very professional and accommodated our needs without any problems. The room was very nice. The beds were comfortable, but the floors are a nightmare. They squeak no matter where you walk. We could hear the people next to and above our room whenever they walked. That kind of disturbed our sleep because it was loud. Otherwise, the place is very clean. The location is excellent to walk to the castle. There are many shops and restaurants in the area. …

We had a fantastic stay at the Hilton in Edinburgh. The hotel is ideally located to the castle, museum and all that you would want to see and eat. The breakfast and executive club amenities were terrific perks. Thank you to Carlos, Karolina, Kym, Louise, Lou, Kieran and Corazon for the exceptional service. We highly recommend!

I knew it was a busy weekend that we booked due to the marathon, so I was not surprised not to receive an upgrade with our diamond status; however, I definitely felt like they put us in the worst rooms they had. First room was very small and strongly smelled of cigarettes. Luckily we were able to change to a slightly bigger room, terrible view, broken toilet seat, torn shower curtain, and non working tv. For the middle 3 nights we had a separate room booked for our daughter who is running the race. Her room was also very tiny, no upgrade, and had a weird smell. But it was clean and quiet. The executive lounge is a waste. Tiny food, tiny bowl of leaves with nothing on it. Not worth it. Tried the restaurant breakfast and it was not good either just more choices than the lounge breakfast. Really needs work. The location is great but there are other off brand choices we will try next time. Loved the Waldorf Caledonia last year but it was so far from the Royal mile, we wanted to try this Hilton property. We’re definitely rethinking our brand loyalty after this stay.…

We had a terrible experience at this hotel. We have been loyal Hilton customers for many years and have never had such a bad experience. The staff at the front desk were unhelpful and in some cases rude. Our room was not cleaned for two of the four nights of our stay. The room had black mold and was in poor condition overall. I don’t recommend staying at this property.

I stayed at the Hilton Carlton for about a week for vacation and had an amazing time. The hotel is very conveniently located down the street from the Castle as well as short walks to tons of shops and restaurants both on and right off the Royal mile. As well as having nice amenities and a great location, the most amazing part of this hotel is the staff, more specifically Kieran. Kieran works in the executive lounge and we saw him almost every morning. He was always very attentive to everyone’s needs, made sure all the food and bars were fully stocked, and kept the entire lounge clean and inviting. He had great food and activity recommendations and always made sure there was water available. His enthusiasm and kindness made our experience in Scotland a wonderful one! He is truly a gem!…
