Stayed here for 5 nights on my stay to Edinburgh with my family. Upon check in, Emma, the front desk manager was so nice and immediately created a great check in experience along with checkout on the last day! The hotel rooms were very clean modern, and stocked daily with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. We had executive lounge access...

Paid for upgraded suite at Hilton Edinburgh - don't expect to be treated as a Diamond member since showing up... also don't expect your room to be cleaned each day or the manager to be more than incompetent high school staff while you stay at this hotel. I would spend my money at the Waldorf Astoria -

Good quality property very centrally located being a five minute walk from the main railway station. Genuinely lovely staff making a big effort to be kind to guests, especially front desk and breakfast waiting staff. We stayed in a 5th floor exec room with a view of the sea from the attic. Has a small exec lounge on the first...

Well another start to the week but a least I'm at the same hotel two nights running. Not a fantastic start checked in and got to the room with someone's waistcoat on the desk chair and a suitcase still in situ. My thanks go out to Kevin who helped decamp back to reception and back up to a newly allocated...

Stayed two nights in this great hotel in Old Town Edinburgh. Nice, clean modern hotel right of the Royal Mile in Old Town Edinburgh. Friendly helpful staff, close to lots of great restaurants and pubs (many with music), easy walking distance to castle. Quiet rooms, only downside way parking was a 5 min walk away. Highly recommended.

Great location right in the middle of town. Rooms were quite nice, but I was not 100% satisfied with the bathroom. The shower did not have enclosed glass and it left the floor completely wet when we would take showers. Also, I found the staff to not be very helpful when asking questions about local restaurants or coffee shops. Besides...

Stayed here for two nights in room 510. Smooth check in, room upgraded great start. Room is spacious and clean with a walkin shower and huge bed. We had access to the executive lounge what was excellent, the staff in particular the girl who did the breakfast shift on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th March. Bar staff attentive and provide...

Arrived at 4:30 for check in (check in is at 3) and was told the room would be ready in just about 5 or 10 minutes. After sitting in the lobby for 20 minutes I questioned the status. I was given a very rude answer which also included being told that just because check in begins at 3, not every...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
