Having travelled extensively and stayed in many hotels, we feel that we are well placed to write an informed and balanced view on the services provided by this hotel. Reception staff were exceptionally helpful. The executive room was comfortable and spacious. However we booked and paid for breakfast and the standard quite frankly was appalling. Things had been watered down, elements of the fruit salad tasted like it had been left overnight and the juices tasted mouldy. The meat sausages are very poor quality,tasteless with gristle and the brown sauce had been watered down with vinegar. Whilst eating breakfast staff appeared indifferent to our comfort whilst clearing,dusting cushions and polishing from the night before and preparing for the day ahead very noisily whilst we were eating! We arrived with our tiny quiet cockapoo to what we thought was a 'dog friendly' hotel, well it is not, no provisios were provided and we were separated from everyone.. being excluded from eating areas and I have to say this is the least 'dog friendly' hotel we have ever stayed in and we were made to feel unwelcome. I have just paid £300+ for a night in this hotel. The rooms have no aircon, but they have settings that make you think you can control the temperature. If the outside temperature is high teens, the room will be extremely hot. You will need to request fans from reception. The quality of the fittings in the room, bathroom, toilet is at best basic, comparable to a basic Travel Lodge. They rely on the fact that there is a pool and gym on site, which if that’s what you want has a value. If you are looking for a room at a price of £100 - £150 it’s probably OK. Otherwise don’t bother. It’s a busy weekend in Edinburgh and they are clearly maximising the rates that they can charge.

We stayed at this hotel for a few nights and enjoyed our stay. The rooms were nice and spacious with everything you'd need. The location was great. Some staff were really friendly and helpful. The only downside was the pool. Every time we visited (early and late in the day) it was packed full of children. So much so you couldn't really use it. Perhaps it would be possible to have a couple of adult only hours in the day so everyone can have the opportunity to use it.

We recently stayed here on a 24 hr family trip to Edinburgh. We wanted to do some birthday shopping, have dinner in the grass market area and walk around the markets. Perfect location/stay for two adults and our 9 and 13yr olds who especially enjoyed the pool facilities. Very laid back, clean, modern and really friendly and helpful staff. We did not eat at the hotel as had other reservations. Great wee coffee cart across the road too. Would definitely book again.

We had a great stay an the Novohotel in Edinburgh. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our kids loved having a pool in the hotel and managed to swim during quieter periods. We loved the breakfast and had a great stay in Edinburgh.

I was expecting something more for the 4 star hotel. Carpet was very dirty, I was afraid to step on the carpet without shoes. The quilts were stained and dirty. I have booked room for 3, but didn't get enough cups. Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is really close to main attractions.

Great place near the city Center. A lot of bus stops near by. The stuff is great and helpful. After a day in town, the pool is good to relax. The bar in the hotel offers a wide range of whiskeys. We had two connecting rooms, easy with kids.

Absolutely lovely hotel with a great location to all the touristy places. The staff were very friendly professional and nothing is too much trouble for them. The bar/restaurant is lovely , either just have a glass or two or three of wine 😂 but the food was so good we chose to eat there 2 nights. We will be back!!!

This hotel is exceptionally well-run, and is a credit to the Novotel brand. Our family really loved that the pool was open until 10 pm, which was terrific for our kids. The hotel also had baby cribs available to us and placed in the room before our stay. We also were accommodated in adjoining rooms next to our family. The staff, such as Charlotte and Martin are top-notch. Charlotte was very understanding and accommodating with my booking error, and Martin was always very friendly and kind to our family at the front desk. Kudos to the wonderful staff at Novotel Edinburgh Centre!
