We stayed at this hotel 19th-22nd May and found everything fine . Check in & Check out was quick and smooth and our room (834) was clean, comfortable and air conditioned. We had tea/coffee facilities a flat screen Tv and a nice modular type bathroom ( similar to a cruise ship) that had a decent shower with body soap/gel and hair conditioner plus hand soap supplied. The window was triple glazed ( non opening) and was quiet from any outside noise. The bed was comfortable and we slept well . There is a ironing room on this floor set up with a ironing board and iron etc rather than have in room irons. We used the bar a few times and found the staff friendly and helpful, especially Francino who was lovely. The prices of hotels in Edinburgh are very high the nearer you get to the royal mile and the price we paid was at the lower end of the range ( around £220 per night without breakfast). Enjoyable break and would recommend this hotel .

Perfect location for the royal mile, castle and Holyrood Palace. Based in old town and a short walk to the new town of Edinburgh. Lovely, pleasant and helpful staff. Good bar menu. Delicious breakfast and clean rooms. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely dog friendly hotel. The staff are really lovely and helpful. Good facilities, recent refurbishment I would say given the room were in comfortable bed and good shower. Plenty of choice at the continental breakfast, no one could complain about it. Would definitely return again

Traveled with a tour group who arranged our accommodations. Fantastic location, walking distance to Royal Mile. Breakfast buffet was very good with plenty of food. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Checkin experience was awful after our overnight flight…totally confused. Small lobby area. Confusing layout with some people needing to pass through the dining area to access their rooms. No hand towels in the room, only bath towels. Tiny bathroom, like something on a cruise ship. Twin beds placed close together, as expected. Beds were comfortable with one pillow each. Our room faced the street on fifth floor, but we had no issues with noise. Others in our travel group heard and felt the noisy music from the nightclub nearby, but our room was quiet.

For the price of this room i was expecting alot better. Check in was easy and we were able to leave our bags until 3pm. Upon check in,nothing was explained to us,we didnt know about breakfast and didnt even know there was a bar in this hotel. The room itself was clean but basic, the TV was tiny and the room was stuffy. As others have said, the bathroom is weird…its tiny and when sitting on the loo you feel like your falling forward, the shower floor was uneven and i felt i was going to fall through it. The bed isnt comfy and the walls are thin and you can hear everything, even the club and live music next door. The location is good but really expensive for what it is.

The rooms are small and stuffy, with a very strange bathroom built within the room. No privacy when sharing with friends as you can hear every sound that’s going on in there due to the large gap at the bottom. You cannot open any windows for fresh air. The BIGGEST problem of all…. Was the horrendous loud music from the club next door. My friends and I had a limited amount of sleep, the music was so loud that we couldn’t sleep until 3am once the trance type music had stopped. We changed rooms, and the problem was just as bad. I don’t know how any other guest would be able to cope with that. We spent everyday of our trip feeling shattered as we had barely slept. The only thing I’d say is ok, is the location. Breakfast is ok, not terrible, not amazing. It’s a shame it’s cold, as that would make it a little more edible. Overall, I’d never stay at this hotel or chain again.

This Hotel is just ok. It's very, very basic, like a dorm with cheap built-in furniture. The beds are not fancy or very comfortable, the pillows are not great, there are limited amenities. The TV is small. We could not get the temperature in the room comfortable with the mini split a/c unit, it was mostly too cold in the room. The flooring is laminate, so you can hear whoever is above you stomping across the floor all hours. It sounded like someone was rolling carts beginning at 6 am. And if that isn't enough to make you not want to stay there, the weirdest thing is the bathroom. It's like a pod in an RV or a boat that you step up into and is very small and oddly shaped. The bathroom door is laminated particle board and was water damaged and not very secure. There was a gap at the bottom of the bathroom door that allows sounds and smells to travel, little privacy. I would have appreciated a washcloth since they only provide liquid soap in the shower, but they just provide bath towels. My boyfriend thought the hotel was OKAY for a few days, but once I saw the bathroom, I wanted to check out the minute we checked in. I could deal with other the low quality aspects of the room, but the bathroom was very weird for a hotel. I would stay elsewhere given the option, but my boyfriend did the booking so I had to make do.

Ugh. This hotel was a big disappointment on several levels. First, it is priced high due to its location on the Royal Mile, but nothing in the hotel matched expectations for the high cost of the room. With taxes and fees we paid $233 a night (£187). This felt like a good stay for college-aged young adults that want to party in the pubs. It felt like a dorm room. It’s noisy at night from the pubs on the street. There is no fresh air coming into the hotel. The hallways stunk– the air was stagnant and you are not allowed to open the windows at all. The bathrooms are bizarre, they are prefab, plastic, modular pods that are fitted into the corner of the room. Ours had a huge door that was super noisy to open and close, so I was awakened all night from the noise. The door is made out of fiberboard and the bottom of the door was torn and fraying. The shower is small, the entire space is cramped and feels like a bathroom on an RV. They provide one bath sheet only, no hand towels or wash cloths. When I asked for hand towels, they brought up “bath mats” which are towels that have been cut in half and sewn at the edge. I was told to use the bath mats as a hand towel. The mattress on the bed was uncomfortable and made my back sore. The flimsy blanket was maybe 1/2 an inch thick, covered in a duvet. I was cold and so a radiator was brought up. The pillows were also low quality. There are no electrical outlets near the bed, only one station in the corner of the room by the window. The included breakfast was okay, on some mornings the eggs seemed not fully cooked and the roasted tomatoes were always unripe and inedible. I do not recommend the ibis. It was not comfortable at all and is a huge rip-off in price.

OK hotel, the location was very good. The staff were friendly and breakfast was good considering the children did not have to pay. But the rooms are quite basic and small. The bathrooms are pods and tiny; our flush broke and it took a while to fix... One of the lifts was also broken for the full five nights we stayed so it took ages to get to and from the top floor. The street is quite noisy to the front and the pillows are very hard, so I slept quite poorly. I would probably look elsewhere next time.
