Perfect location for the royal mile, castle and Holyrood Palace. Based in old town and a short walk to the new town of Edinburgh. Lovely, pleasant and helpful staff. Good bar menu. Delicious breakfast and clean rooms. Would definitely stay again.

A very well situated hotel, in walking distance (15-20 minutes) to the most important places of the beautiful city of Edinburgh. Excellent team in the front desk, young people ready to help and to answer to any request. Good daily cleaning.
A strong minus is the imposibility of opening the windows in the rooms. First they said it's because of a scottish law, but at check out they admitted is a rule of the hotel. Anyway, it's not normal and hygienic to not refresh the air for a few days, especially when you use the shower or the toilette.
If you need a plug adapter they can sell you one or more, cheaper than the stores.
A lot of shops and restaurants. Don't miss the castels, museums (especially National Gallery Art), monuments, Princess Street (shopping), George Street and the cathedrals.
If you have enough time visit Glasgow (1h 20 min by Scottish City Link buses).
All in all, I reccomand this hotel!

I've stayed with Ibis many times across the UK and in Europe. The hotel is well located, a short walk from Waverley Station, the Royal Mile two minutes away, next door to a Sainsburys Local branch and with several bars and restaurants nearby. I stayed for one night, room only as, in common with many hotels, the breakfast seemed expensive and there are ample good cheaper options within easy reach.

I had taken advantage of the online pre-check in, and receiving my room key was quite straightforward. One good thing about Ibis is that they don't rigidly enforce stated check-in times if rooms are available and I was in mine more than an hour early.

My double room was large and well maintained with a desk facing the window and a bench seat to one side. The bed was quite firm and comfortable, and, always a big consideration for me, the shower was excellent, simple to work and easy to set just the right temperature. The adjustable air conditioning system seemed rather more efficient than in many hotels I've used.

The free wifi was easy to access and quite fast. The main downsides for me were some of the fittings in the room. The desk chair was the hard rounded plastic type you might find in a reception area and not very comfortable. The curtain, which slid across on bars fixed at top and bottom, wasn't wide enough to cover the entire window, which was a little annoying as a building about 20 metres away had some lights on all night. There was a wall-mounted light directly above the desk but it wasn't really powerful enough for its purpose.

Room Tip: Busy road outside, high rear room probably best. Cockburn St a good bet for decent breakfasts...

During a pandemic you would expect soap in the bathroom but there wasn’t any at all, even in the shower. The two spare pillows in a bag smelt obviously unwashed. Not the standards you would expect when hotels are being advised to keep on top of hygiene. The room itself was clean, however due to delivery issues when asking at the desk for tea and coffee there was often something they didn’t have, including fresh paper cups. They did however direct us to the bar to get fresh milk. Understandably, due to covid precautions they weren’t cleaning rooms that were occupied during the day, however it meant after a long weekend of staying we were living with bags of rubbish in the room. This however of course is to keep staff safe but worth keeping in mind if you’re thinking about staying. The food served at the restaurant consists of two different pizzas and soup pretty much, which was a bit lacking. For the price you can’t go wrong, however it would have been nice to have had soap available to be able to wash our hands. We ended up going out and buying some instead however I feel as though it isn’t asking for much for the hotel to provide it. For the price it wasn’t awful, but the dirty pillows is enough to put me off staying there in future.

My sister and I stayed at the ibis south bridge Edinburgh, Monday to Friday during the festival it wasn’t a washout, but it certainly wasn’t a pleasant trip. When we arrived we went up to our room, and the bed looked like it had been slept in, all the sheets were creased and the bed not made properly. Forget the towels, it was like getting dried with a loofah, the towels were past their sell by date, and had never seen a bottle of softener, they were so rough. On the Tuesday, they ran out of the little milk capsules, and said we would have to get some from housekeeping the next day, I also explained to the receptionist that most people stay for one or two days and the room gets serviced, but we were there for four days, and I wanted housekeeping to go in and dust and vacuum because my sister has CML and a dust allergy, and her eyes were red and swollen the four days we were there. They were very obliging, in fact all of the staff were really pleasant and helpful. They did clean the room for us, and left two small towels, so we had to go down and get two larger towels, couldn’t call them bath towels.
The breakfast was so bad I asked if we could have it refunded, but it was in with the room rate, so we ate the continental selection,.until the last day I asked for a soft fried egg, and did get one. Don’t know if all Scotland hotels are the same but they only served really well done streaky bacon, and what tasted like powdered scrambled eggs. Would I stay at an Ibis again, no.

I enjoyed a two night stay here in an 8th floor double room and would happily return next time I'm in Edinburgh and after a simple room. As you can see from the photos there is one chair and a small round table to sit at. The room has all the standard items you would expect from a basic hotel room - tea and coffee making facilities plus biscuits, shower gel/shampoo, a luggage rack. The only things missing that I would have liked was a face washer and tissues.

As an Accor Silver member I was gifted a plate of delicious macaron biscuits (and two bottles of Scottish water, one still and one sparkling - I'm not sure if this is standard or also because I a silver member). I received a voucher for a drink in the hotel bar as well. I asked for, and was granted, a very generous late check out time. This allowed me to leave straight for my next destination without having to leave the room and put my bags in storage.

The bed was comfortable. I found the pillows very thin though and there were no extras placed in the room.

The window is fixed shut, which didn't really bother me and blocked all outside noise which was great. I heard little to no noise from the hallway or neighbouring rooms however I strongly advice bringing ear plugs because anyone coming and going or talking anywhere near the room would be disturbing. I took my shoes off in the room because they were floor boards and I was concerned for anyone in the room on the floor below mine, but whether or not noise from above was an issue for them or not I'm not sure.

The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming and made my stay particularly pleasant with their little extras and attention to detail. I really appreciated the higher floor room and the view

I would definitely stay here again, although only if the price was right.

Reasonably priced Hotel in an ideal location for the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. Car Parking is in a NCP about 10 mins walk away (you get discounted parking from the Hotel). Hotel and rooms are very clean. Breakfast had a decent selection. Shower was quite powerful and the hair drier, my wife said was great. Noted that at least one member of staff spoke Spanish.
Two comments: we could hear music into the small hours, not the Hotels fault just the location and when asking twice for fresh towels they never arrived (and not available at reception). Nevertheless, a nice stay.

had a three night stay here in August 2021. The hotel is located right in the middle of the center of the city, excellent for walking to places. The room was as expected - very clean and quiet - we did not hear any noise from the city.
Tea making facilities and a hair dryer were provided in the room. The bar was comfortable and the prices quite reasonable. Toilet/shower cubicle was a bit unusual but perfectly suited for use - and plenty of hot water.

I stayed three nights at this very well located hotel, which was a short walk from the train station. Several bars, restaurants and shops were within a very short walk from the hotel.
The check-in process was quick and efficient.
The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable with adequate storage space.
The breakfast offered a very wide choice of tasty food and was probably the best breakfast I have had in a UK hotel.
The bar also offered a very wide choice with a good cocktails menu.
The only fault I could find with the hotel was that the room was not cleaned and bedding changed each day. However, this was due to Covid restrictions.
I thought that the price charged represented good value for money. I would highly recommend this hotel and would happily stay there again.
