I love Premier Inn and have stayed many times and in this particular one. On this occasion we had room 133 DO NOT stay in this room as it is the worst smelling room I’ve stayed in. The carpet felt damp and whole room smelt foosty. Once home we gave discovered everything we had in the room now also smells foosty.

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed in a family room while on a weekend visit to Edinburgh with our two young children. The hotel location is excellent - about 10 mins on bus into the centre of Edinburgh, with bus stop directly outside and frequent buses. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was just what we needed - spacious clean, comfortable, quiet and great for us and the kids. A special mention must be made of the great breakfast service, catered by June and Lyn who went out of their way to accommodate us. They made us all feel so welcome!

Good nights stay in a quieter part of Edinburgh Excellent service from a young lady named Shannon for the evening meal, and excellent service from another lovely lady named Lynne at breakfast. Two very pleasant ladies. I would definitely stay here again

Hotel out of the centre of London but on a direct bus route. Good comfortable room, good breakfast at a very reasonable rate. Stayed in the same hotel regularly since 1984. A good comfortable stay, a good nights sleep. Easy to find just off the A1 with ample parking so avoiding central Edinburgh if coming from the south.

Stayed in this hotel as doing some sightseeing and shopping before picking Daughter up from finishing her year at uni and this one was close to her accommodation. Was a lovely hotel with a friendly lady on reception, very helpful. Booked in for tea into the on-site restaurant. Food was lovely, hubby had the fish which wasn’t so good so could only eat part of it. Wanted to have a couple of cocktails but they didn’t have the ingredients. The rooms were comfortable as always at premium in, some marks on the ceiling in the room and in the bathroom. Can get a bit noisy later on with doors banging. Didn’t stay for breakfast

Following up from my poor check in experience the rest of my stay was good. The staff in the restaurant were excellent and the bed and shower in my room were very good. The room was quiet. Please just train your reception staff a bit more. To be offered paying £10 at 2.45 when the room was ready and no charge 15 minutes later was ridiculous.

Arrived at 2pm and was told rooms would be ready in 45 minutes. Came back at2.45 to be told I had to wait another 15 minutes or pay £10 to check in early. Jobsworths have just made my favourite hotel chain a total no no. Ridiculous. I hope the Premier Inns I normally recommend to friends are not as rigid as this one which is lucky to merit one star for customer service.

We had a very mixed ... and strange experience here. Check-in was nice and we had a cosy room. Sports (?) teams of girls ran around in the public passage outside our room making a racket for hours, but it all calmed down at about 10pm. OK, excited youth. On our second night the Beefeater Restaurant pub below our room had a DJ belting out pop hits from 4-10pm. We got back to the room about 5.30pm and it was VERY LOUD! We could FEEL it. Andrew, the desk manager, asked the restaurant to turn the volume down. And it went down from level 10 to level 9.5. Still way too LOUD. We asked Andrew for a different room, and after a bit of head-scratching and manipulation we got a new room. "But, you must take out everything in the next five minutes, because I have to make up the room again". Right, I thanked him, apologised for his extra work, and assured him we'd be completely shifted in five minutes ... and we moved rooms. Delightfully quiet in the new one. Smiles back on our faces. Now it gets a bit weird. Unfortunately, in our rush to vacate the first, noisy room, I left behind a bag of neatly folded clothing on a shelf -- and didn't realise this until the following morning. So I went down to Reception where a new, cheery desk manager looked to see if anything had been found or logged in. Nothing. Odd. She'd look into it and get back to me. Anyway, a few hours later, as we approached check-out time, I headed for Reception again and happened to pass the cleaners' room -- whose door had be left open. There on a trolley with a bunch of other sacs and stuff I saw the distinctive bag my clothing had been in. I grabbed it, and everything was there. Great. Now Andrew, who made up the room the previous evening (and the cheerful morning desk manager confirmed this), would have discovered my clothing ... picked it up when he'd finished cleaning ... walked past the door of the room he'd transferred us to a few minutes previously ... and carried on down the corridor to place my clothes on a trolley at the back of the cleaners' room. Knowing that we would be checking out the following morning, and there would be no record of it being found. Not a very professional attitude, it seems to me.

The hotel was great. My daughter and I stayed for a couple of nights as a base for exploring Edinburgh. This location was cheaper than the central premier inn but perfectly handy and accessible by bus or a taxi ride costs just £10. The bus stop is almost right outside the hotel and buses run every fifteen mins or so. Ten min bus ride into centre of Edinburgh. Under ten mins drive to Portobello beach. The hotel itself is clean, well run, warm and spacious. Comfortable beds, very powerful shower. Car park is compact but even when returning close to midnight, there was space for us. Petrol station right beside hotel if you’re stuck. Sam, the receptionist, was outstanding - super helpful, and informative. She told us the buses to get for where we wanted to go and how to navigate the city. Showed an interest in what we were doing and was very sweet with my daughter. She deserves praise for going the extra mile for us.
