The Premier Inn Edinburgh East hotel garners appreciation for its prime location, offering convenient access to public transit and nearby facilities. Guests have noted the hotel's rooms and cleanliness, however, some have called for enhancements in room comfort and more consistent cleaning services.
The atmosphere and amenities are considered basic and service experiences vary widely, from commendable to lacking. Reviewers warn that the value proposition may fall short, with high costs and dated decor cited among the concerns.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed at the Edinburgh East for five nights between 05/09/21 and 10/09/21. We were on honeymoon and celebrated a birthday during our stay. We found every member of staff welcoming, informative, helpful and cheerful. They were an absolute delight to deal with; nothing was too much trouble for them. The accommodation was comfortable and clean. Due to Covid restrictions the rooms were not being serviced daily but any clean towels or refreshments we needed were requested and supplied at reception. Our allotted room (225) unfortunately had little natural light so after two evenings we requested a move to a lighter room. This request was dealt with sympathetically and the manageress arranged a different room for us on the spot. This happened to be my birthday and the ladies on reception delighted in bringing presents that had arrived up to our room. Later that day we found a good wishes card and a small bottle of wine courtesy of the hotel; thank you so much for that thought! Most days we had breakfast in the attached Beefeater restaurant. The food was excellent value for money and we were waited on by pleasant attentive staff.
A great deal of effort had been stored in ensuring we had a wonderful time at the hotel and we did. Our thanks to all the members of staff who looked after us and we would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
It gives us great delight to say that in a world which is far from perfect our experience at this hotel was as close to perfection as we could have dreamt.

My partner and myself stayed here on a Saturday night in September and have to say it was one of the nicest Premier Inn's that we've stayed in. The room was a wee bit smaller than others we've stayed in but that made no difference to us as all we needed it for was sleeping and showering. Staff were really helpful and friendly. We didn't visit the Brewers Fayre next door as we wanted to sample something a bit more "Edinburgh" and werent disappointed when we found the Sheep Heid Inn about a 10 minute walk away, would definitely recommend this place also.

Stayed for 3 nights whilst visiting Edinburgh. This Premier Inn is as good as many most costly hotels I have stayed at during recent times and during this visit to Scotland.
The location is is easy to find being on A1 and as previously mentioned £1.80 bus ride into Princes Street. The staff could not have been friendly and more helpful, even explaining how to make a direct link to the taxi company worked on arrival, Very useful to us as we wanted one for a journey across the city later during our stay.
Breakfast was good but somewhat bizarrely poached eggs were unavailable for all 3 breakfasts, whilst other egg types were served?!?!
My only complaint would be that the heat controller in the room did not seem to work properly, which kept the room rather on the warm side, but not sufficient for us to make representation to reception.
Sufficient parking at the rear of the hotel but I did see the odd late comer struggle to find a space so maybe arrive early if possible,=.
I recommend this Premier Inn and would happily return when next in dinburgh

Generally it was ok, however;
When cleaning tables clean the whole thing, not around items like salt & pepper pots.
If you don’t have everything available for a particular meal i.e. a mixed grill either offer an alternative or a discount on the cost of the meal.
Why put a notice on the back of a bathroom door asking you to close it to stop the steam setting off the alarm. If you don’t close the door, you don’t see the sign. Place it on the front of the door, that wat you’ll always see it.
Make sure the windows open sufficiently so you can get some air through!

We arrived Thursday evening and were greeted with a very friendly Sarah who welcomed us to the Premier in East, she made sure that we were seen to our room and went out of her way to ensure that my wife had the extra pillow that she requested.
We had breakfast every morning of our stay and staff in the morning were very attentive to ensure that we had all the requested and that we found the food to our satisfaction.
All of the staff were very friendly and courteous at all times and went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and enjoying our stay.
The only downside was the on-site building work, early starts during the week can be expected.
However on the Saturday and Sunday mornings they started noisily at 7 AM and drove past the bedroom windows in cherry pickers at 8 AM, this compelled us to get up earlier than we would have liked to have done.
My wife and the other guests in our party in the bedroom next door felt uneasy with this as it felt like they were being looked at from the outside even with the curtains drawn.
We have stayed at the Premier Inn Edinburgh East before and have never had any issues, on this occasion we had no issues with the actual staff and the standard of the room.
And we will be returning to this well situated friendly Premier in for definite.

We have just returned from this hotel. Before travelling we were a bit apprehensive due to some very negative reviews regarding the poor quality bedrooms, lack of parking etc. I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised. We had a lovely, spacious room on the second floor. The only slightly disappointing aspect was the small window which made the room quite dark. It was spotless and well furnished. The bathroom with walk in shower looked relatively new and was equipped with lovely white, fluffy towels and soap/shampoo dispensers. Fresh towels were available every day and, if you wished, housekeeping would freshen up room daily. Tea, coffee, milk readily available and plentiful. Hairdryer in room also and plenty of power points. The staff were a credit to the company. Everyone from the reception staff to the housekeeping staff was so helpful. We didn’t eat in the hotel but had a few drinks in the bar each night which was very pleasant. We parked the car with ease on arrival and used the frequent bus service into Edinburgh which only took around 12 minutes. Well done everyone, we look forward to a return trip.

We were very happy with our stay here. Very clean, well equipped, comfortable room. Really quiet, slept really well.
Reception staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.
Our only complaint was the restaurant. We ate there on our first evening. The restaurant staff were friendly enough but seemed too busy…we had to keep trying to get their attention to order, pay etc. No one asked if our meal was ok after we had got it. I ordered chicken and ribs and the chicken was rubbery and not at all nice…tasted like it had been reheated in a microwave. Husband ordered steak and chips and enjoyed his.
We had already prepaid for breakfast the next morning. It is table service due to covid regulations. There was only one server looking after the 3 tables (the other guy was vacuuming). Waitress was very pleasant, but could have done with another person working as it was 15 minutes before she was free to take our order as she was serving one other table. It was only 10am yet they had run out of quite a few breakfast items. The breakfast was very nice though when it arrived.
The hotel is close to Portobello Beach and we had a lovely walk along the Promenade one night. It’s only a 10/15 minute drive/ bus ride into Edinburgh. We enjoyed staying there as it was far enough out from the busyness of the city.
I would definitely use this hotel again but wasn’t overly impressed with the restaurant.

We stayed for 3 nights on a room only basis as part of a trip travelling around Scotland. The hotel is typical Premier Inn style and size and we found our room to be clean and comfortable with free car parking. The hotel is ideally located close to the portobello area where friends of our live which enable us to easily visit them. The hotel is also located close to a main bus route which after discussing with the reception staff we obtained a daily bus pass rather than use our car to travel to the city centre and other sites. Recommended.

All the staff we met were very welcoming and helpful.
The room was clean and comfortable.
We chose the meal deal option for dinner and breakfast and were pleased we did.
Car parking was free and the bus in to the city centre stopped just outside the hotel.
From the outside it doesn’t look much but the service inside made up for it!

Just returned from a stay at this hotel and I can honestly say I think I may have robbed premier inn blind for the price we paid for this (£128 for 2 nights 2 rooms). We chose this hotel rather then a city centre hotel as my husband had stayed here 3 times previous for work so he knew the location and it had free parking. Since his last visit he said the rooms have been done up. The rooms themselves were lovely and clean, every staff member we come across were friendly and very helpful and the onsite restaurant was lovely. We paid for the breakfast and it was worth it. I actually prefer the new system in place of ordering rather then buffet cos I feel you don't get silly and wasteful with food plus it's all fresh. All in all we were really pleased for our stay. Will be staying here again on my next visit to Edinburgh as it was a bargain plus a taxi or Uber doesn't cost alot from the hotel to the city centre so it makes it more of a bargain!

Hi, not sure how long to walk? Maybe 25 to 30 mins. I wouldn’t bother though as it’s only £1.70 each for the frequent bus service.
Hello, I’m not sure sorry. We were in a room above the club room away from the main property.
In our room we only had a double bed.
The hotel's website states " … the hotel car park will be closed from July - December 2019. Alternative free parking is available across the road from the hotel". There is a big car dealership (Motorchoice) directly across the road with an expansive car park. The hotel may have arranged customer parking with the dealership. Having given that assurance on its website the hotel must deliver on the free parking.
It states car park closed from 19th July, I to want to know if there is alternative parking.
"avoid. Way overpriced, no orange juice at breakfast when Tesco next door. B/B would do better."Read full review
