Frankly, from the first moment I felt more like I am visiting relatives than paid accomodation. From fantastic breakfeast choices (extremly friendly towards gluten free diets) to every detail of the rooms and shared spaces, everything well described, everything well thought through and well taken care of and most importantly, everything fantastically clean - I don't think I've seen carpet with colors this bright in my whole life. As I told the landlady, the place is a swimming pool away from five stars, though you don't mind because the beach is literally few steps from the house. Quiet neignbourhood couple minutes by bus from the city center, shops and restaurants around, I honestly can't thing of the tiniest complaint even if I try. I had fantastic time in Edinburgh and for the large part due to this house offering more comfort than many hotels ten times more expensive. I can only recommend, now stop reading and book it before somebody else will!…
King sized bed, spotlessly clean, usual tea & coffee making facilities but also a pod-type coffee machine available in the shared living room. Excellent breakfasts. Sinead and Chris are lovely hosts, they were a great help with local transport and recommendations for eating out. Bus stop is 100 yards away and has direct service into the centre of Edinburgh (stops right outside Waverley station), takes about 20 mins. 20 yards from the front door you're on the seafront at Portobello, nice walk along the front into the town centre.
Me and my partner came for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. The owners were helpful and always willing to go the extra mile. They showed us bus routes and tourist spots and were really friendly. The room was beautiful and very clean, and me and my partner both thought it was the best bed/pillows we’d ever slept on! The food was amazing, there was a vast variety and you could pick quite a few options. Unfortunately I was under the weather so didn’t get to eat much of it, but my partner really enjoyed it. Also there’s dairy-free options and they have lots of different types of tea. Thank you both for a wonderful stay!
I was in Portobello for a pilates course - and stayed for 2 nights. The room was so comfortable and cosy - after a bout of insomnia in previous weeks I slept so soundly both nights! The owners couldn't have been more helpful - even serving me breakfast when I was very late down one morning! I personally also really appreciated that the owners are very eco-conscious - there was homemade shower gel, eco-friendly hand-wash and recycling options. And the guest lounge was sooo comfy. Absolutely delicious home-made yogurt for breakfast. I'll definitely be back!
What a find. We had a lovely 3 night stay here. Sinead and Chris we're wonderful hosts in this fabulous place. We had a beautiful, spacious room with a view of the beach (2 minutes walk to the promenade). And the breakfast - probably the best I've ever had. Easy to get into Edinburgh by bus, and not too expensive. Wish we could have stayed longer!
