Nice hotel, staff extremely pleasant and helpful, our room was the Sydney suite which was 2 floors above bar area and was extremely noisy. Room was spotless. only gripes I have are for the hotel to charge £305 per night they might have fixed broken lamps in hallway and replaced broken bin in room. Breakfast was superb, freshly squeezed orange...

We stayed at this hotel for a few days after our wedding. It was lovely! The rooms are all named after different places, the first night we stayed in 'Moscow'- I loved the décor in here, it was very calming! However, there was a drippy shower problem so the second day we got upgraded to 'Casablanca' which was a junior...

Our stay in this beautiful hotel was made even better by the attentive and helpful staff - when we simply enquired if the hotel stocked bubble bath, they went out and bought us some especially! The room was beautiful, exceptionally clean & we loved the sunken bath. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious. Highly recommended!

Location is brilliant, check in very quick and got a free glass of champagne. Room was lovely and very clean. We ate breakfast at the hotel which was lovely. I got this stay on a special offer so I thought it was worth the money but I wouldn't pay full price to stay here. I would stay again though if...

I have just returned from a great stay at this fabulous hotel. I travelled with my grown up children and my son's girlfriend and we had two suites, Los Angeles and Sydney. The rooms were enchanting, very spacious, HUGE bathrooms and beautifully decorated. We slept well in the comfortable beds and were able to adjust the room temperatures to our...

A very impressive hotel in a great location. The service offered was excellent from every member of hotel staff we encountered and the restaurant, bars and nightclub all added to a thoroughly enjoyable 2-night stay. Downsides were it was hard to control the temperature in the room and there was a constant rattling noise outside our room (Dublin suite) along...

My husband and I went to Edinburgh a couple of years ago. It was very last minute and the hotels where we normally stay we're fully booked. We decided to try Le Monde. Big mistake! The rooms were fine but very noisy at night, we like to party but I couldn't get to sleep because of The noise coming from...

Le monde is a fantastic romantic getaway. We stayed in the Tokyo junior suite and it was out of this world. I have not got a bad word to say. Staff were lonely and couldn't do enough for you. Would highly recommend and we will be returning in the near future can't wait. Worth every penny. Thanks for an amazing...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
