Lochend Apartments are a complex of 53 serviced apartments, situated in Leith, 1.6 miles from Edinburgh Princes Street/Royal Mile, 1.4 miles from Edinburgh Playhouse and less than a mile from Leith Ocean Terminal/Royal Yacht Britannia. Each apartment features free WiFi and free Sky Sports. Each apartment has a kitchen/dining area, all cutlery and crockery provided with washing machine/tumble dryer, cooking facilities and a fridge. They each have a lounge with a fireplace and a TV with Freeview channels. A breakfast starter pack with tea, coffee, sugar and cereal is provided on the day of check-in and their are 2 supermarkets just 2 minutes’ walk away. All bed linen and towels are provided in each apartment as well as ironing facilities . The Lochend Serviced Apartments also contain fold away beds as an extra bed option. The 34 bus stops outside Lochend Serviced Apartments and takes 10 minutes to reach Edinburgh city centre and Waverley Rail Station.

Just back from a weekend in Edinburgh and stayed Lochend Service Apts with friends. Good location and gererally good looking apt, but whole thing needs some serious TLC as not very well cleaned with grease and crumbs ontop of fridge and stains on oven door. Bedding duvee covers had an unpleasant smell. We couldn't manage to get the heating on, so contacted those responsible and left a message. Still waiting for any response. Poor poor poor in cold weather.

Clean, comfy, great service. Will definitely be back again. The rooms were a good size and every facility was provided for. On main bus route to and from Edinburgh City centre making travel easy so we didn't need to use the car.

As with previous reviewers Avoid at all costs. Very old pics on website accommodation very very tired very grubby. No reception at weekend no reply on phone number. Very dissatisfied with whole experience and management attitude.

The property is away from the centre, but we travelled into town on the bus and came back with a cab in the evening. The apartments we're a decent size and the kitchens well equipped, I found the bed to be comfy and my son appreciated the TV available in the bedroom. The apartment had been cleaned, but would have benefitted from a more thorough clean. The general standard was good but some items were missing or broken which is why it has only scored two out of five. The ventilation fans in both of the bathrooms were not working, as there was no window either the bathrooms had no ventilation. There was a missing lightbulb in the cupboard room containing the boiler so this had to be inspected by torchlight. The window in the kitchen would not close properly, as we visited in summer it was not an issue, but if you were visiting in winter you would have a constant draft. Should have been a three out of five review accommodation but let down by a lack of maintenance.…

If I could have left 0 it would be too generous. DO NOT BOOK HERE. We paid £20 per night for our dog as the apartment had to be deep cleaned following our visit. I would say it had never been cleaned never mind deep cleaned prior to our arrival. The floor hadn’t even been swept, the fridge bin oven bathroom were dangerously filthy. The crockery and cutlery (which I think must have come out of a Christmas cracker) hadn’t been cleaned. There was so much damage in the apartment we asked the staff to check as we didn’t want to end up losing our security deposit. The owner was not embarrassed in the slightest and just said we wouldn’t be charged. There are instructions on how to use the heating but they don’t work as it is controlled by the owner and you can’t actually switch it on or off never mind control the heat. The whole place stank of filth and mustiness. Do not believe that they will be serviced during your stay, they attend once every 3 days to change the towels - 1 hand towel each and 1 tea towel (apparently you can use the washer/dryer in your apartment to wash them as if you would ever put anything in such a disgusting machine) and to empty the bin and nothing more. DO NOT BOOK HERE EVEN IF IT THE LAST ROOM IN EDINBURGH.…

We were very happy with our apartment. Had everything we needed, was very clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable and very big. Only negative was there wasn't any hangers in the wardrobe, but minor problem!. Convenient location for buses into City centre. Would happily go back.

We have just returned from a three night stay at the edinburgh festival. The apatments were easy to find and on a major bus route into the city. Clean and tidy (although they are currently using the site as a relief collection point fot the Ukraine. The down side and the reason for the 3 star review . You can book parking at £10 a day, which we did. Unfortunatley this is not monitored or policedso when there is a football match (the Hibs ground is a few hundred yards away) you cannot park and as reception is not manned at the weekend you cannot get any help there. Nett result nip to supermarket and comeback to no parking available on site. When I mentioned this at checkout on the Monday I got a shrug of the shoulders and a blank look. So dont pay for the parking you do not get a reserved space or even a secure car park no offer of refund for the lsoyt days parking and a Its not our fault shrug when qustioned…

We were given the wrong keys for our apartment resulting in us gaining entry to an already occupied apartment when they were asleep. Very embarrassing for us and frightening for the occupants. We then had to resolve the situation we found ourselves in of nowhere to sleep. Used the out of hours number only to be spoken to very rudely, and questioned about the keys. We gained access to the office where all keys for every apartment were kept,using the code given, had to find the correct keys ourselves and then our apartment. Terrible customer service. No apology was given until I’d made two phone calls and wrote a letter of complaint. After this experience I cannot recommend these apartments at all and shall not be returning.

Everything was as expected, except for the Wifi, which never worked. This was a big deal because we all had cellphones with roaming charges. Also, all the heaters were on, in the summer, and it was hard to figure out how to turn them off.

We had booked 2 apartments and on arrival went to the reception area to pick up keys. We were suprised to see a pigeon on the reception desk being fed! Straight away the guy on reception said we had only booked one apartment which was a concern. He then found our booking and realised we had two apartments booked. He said the second apartment was not near the first one and was a 5 min walk away. We dumped all of our bags in the closest apartment as we were in a rush and planned to collect our bags and find the second apartment later. When we returned we pi ked up our bags and headed in the direction he pointed in following his instructions to the second apartment. Number 139 was nowhere in sight, apartments where in the teens, we googled 139 and found it was in the opposite direction. We walked around and then finally found block 139 and went up to flat 4 as is written on the key. In opening the door we saw people in the apartment! We closed the door in shock. A girl came to the door and said she lives in this apartment!!! We went to reception and called the out of hours phone number. The guy from reception earlier answered and was very rude down the phone telling us to shut up and let him speak and that we were wrong. Once he actually listened to us he gave us instructions to get I to the office to find the correct key as he had given us the wrong one. There was no apology at all. On our return we have enquired about a refund/partial refund which was completely declined as he has said we should have checked the apartment earlier on, which to be honest is not something we should have to do to ensure that we have the accomdation we paid for. Awful experience and awful for the family whose key we were given. It must have been terrifying for them! Would definitely not recommend to anyone.…
