. We liked that we had our own front door so we could come and go as we pleased. The microwave and fridge were great for when we did not want to go out to eat. If you book trips through the hotel you receive a discounted price. The room was spacious and clean, the beverages were refilled every day.... More

Me and my husband stayed in room 2 from Saturday 16th July until Monday 18th July. We travelled to Edinburgh by train from Preston for a two night stay, we were going to see Steriophonics in concert. We were welcomed by Richard the owner who was very friendly and helpful. Our room was ready when we arrived and looked as... More

The owner Richard and his wife are kind and helpful. We had 2 big luggage and he helped us to carry one. We thought it be a DIY in a guesthouse. Ha. We booked an ensuite and stayed at the basement. A comfy place to stay. Microwave oven is just outside the room. They helped to wash up the used... More

My wife and I stayed at the Lantern Guest House for four nights in May 2016. The room was clean and large. A mini fridge and microwave were available for use in the hall outside of the room. The location of the property was also very convenient. We were able to walk to the Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood House, and Arthur's... More

Based in New Town, a 10-minute walk from Waverley Station. Close to lots of restaurants and shops. Nice and quiet, a bit outside of the more touristy areas. Welcome was warm and friendly, the room cozy and clean. Fridge in the hall with milk for tea, and crockery as needed. Comfortable bed with extra pillows. The entrance and room have... More

My boyfriend and I stayed the first week in May, and stayed for two nights paying 60 a night. It is just about a 10 minutes walk from Waverley train station so not a bad location. We decided to stay here as it fitted our budget, and reviews said it was pretty close to the centre. If I was to... More

We had a lovely time at the lantern. It's right in the centre of Edinburgh with walking distance of all the nice sights. A nice clean room with private shower and toilet. We came with our daughter. And a nice and friendly reception from Richard.

The lantern guest house is lovely, I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others, our room was in the basement, it was clean, big enough and comfortable. Although the guest house does not provide breakfast there is a microwave and plates and cutlery available to guests along with fresh milk and a fridge. There is no shortage... More
