Greenhead of Arnot is a Fife farmhouse B&B that dates from about 1840, with additions in 2000, which have made the house spacious and modern; ideal for the country house bed and breakfast business which Malcolm and Maggie Strang Steel have developed there. The farmhouse can be found on the south slopes of the Lomond Hills on the border of Fife and Kinross-shire and is situated within 590 acres of farmland and woodland, surrounding a twenty five acre reservoir. These provide a variety of bird life in the woods and on the reservoir, enjoyable walks and magnificent views across the Firth of Forth. There is trout fishing available on the farm by arrangement.Greenhead is not just a place to stay for what it can offer itself. There is something for everyone within an hours drive: the Edinburgh Festival, the beaches of the Fife coast, golf at St. Andrews, Gleneagles and numerous other courses, castles in Edinburgh, Stirling, Blair Atholl and Glamis, and fine scenery wherever you go.The bedrooms have very comfortable beds, and an excellent selection of books and TV. Breakfast is served in the dining room – porridge, cereals, fruit and superb locally-sourced eggs, bacon and sausages. A three or four course dinner, including produce from the garden, farm and other local shops can be requested in advance. Maggie loves to cook and uses fresh and seasonal foods throughout the year whenever possible. Guests can relax with their afternoon tea by the log fire in the drawing room or sit in the summer sunshine in the garden enjoying the roses.Maggie and Malcolm enjoy having guests to stay and helping them to find all that is on offer locally and throughout Scotland. Malcolm is interested in history while Maggie enjoys gardening and outdoor activities. Just 10 minutes from the M90, Greenhead Farm is a peaceful place from which to visit the many attractions in the central area of Scotland or to simply break your journey.

Detailed Reviews
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Greenhead of Arnot in August. Hosts Maggie and Malcolm were very welcoming, and were able to provide us with useful information on the surrounding area. Their elegant home is located on a large farm, with opportunities for pleasant country walks across the rolling fields. An evening walk up the hill behind their home afforded great views of Kinross and Fife. Our room was large, very attractively furnished and immaculately clean, with an incredibly comfortable king size bed. Breakfasts were very nicely prepared and offered a wide choice. At our request, Maggie prepared a delicious evening meal with locally sourced ingredients, including fresh lamb. We can highly recommend Greenhead of Arnot as a wonderful place to stay.

Lovely place, most welcoming owners (Meggie and Malcolm) nice warm and convenient rooms, very clean, amazing garden, surrounded by beautiful Scottish countryside and excellent breakfast. We also booked in advance dinner (prepared by Meggie) which was excellent
We booked 4 rooms (7 people) and we couldn't ask for more. Truly, we were sorry that we stayed only one night and had to continue our tour

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay with Maggie and Malcolm. The are gracious hosts and our time could not have been better. The accommodations were first rate with a wonderful sitting room to enjoy a whisky in front of the fire after a day of exploring.

We enjoyed a peaceful and homely experience at Greenhead Farm B&B with Malcolm and Maggie. From the comfort of their home, our delightful room with perks, the freshly cooked breakfast, and spread of homemade jams, to our interesting chats on history and travels, and their genuine delight in conversing and aiding us in mapping out a lovely trip in Scotland. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our stay, and will be sure to visit in the future.

We stayed three nights whilst visiting the Open golf at St Andrews. Fantastic accommodation in a lovely house. Malcolm and Maggie exceptionally welcoming, friendly and helpful. Lovely views over the countryside and beautiful garden from bedroom. Delicious and generous breakfast, described by my 19 year old son as "the best ever".

My wife and I adored this lovely house. The owners (Maggie and Malcolm) are welcoming and warm. The place is clean and cosy, and the garden is magnificent. The breakfast is excellent. We would definitely recommend the place and, if the opportunity comes, we will stay here again.
The surrounding is wonderful; We went for a long walk around loch Leven; that is 5 min drive from Greenhead of Arnot and enjoyed it so much.

We visited Greenhead on 11th April 2014. This property is very special and the hosts Maggie and Malcolm made us feel very welcome. All facilities at Greenhead are immaculate and spotlessly clean. The evening meal (cooked by Maggie) was first class with excellent pheasant from the estate. Very interesting to talk to our hosts and Maggie's garden is beautiful. Malcolm was only too pleased to give us detailed information of things to see and do.

We had the most wonderful time with Maggie and Malcolm at their lovely farm!
We arrived much later than planned because our flight was delayed, and yet we received such a warm welcome from Maggie and Malcolm. They are true hosts - kind, generous, and very friendly and helpful. We loved their dogs, too... :)
The place is beautiful, warm and peaceful, and we hope to come again in the future for a longer stay!
Thank you Maggie and Malcolm!

Well, I have used many B & B's on my travels but unfortunately this one was far from one of the best. Maggie & Malcolm were both lovely people, the farm house was nice and homely and the gardens a picture, we were made very welcome. The establishment is desperately overdue for refurbishment to bring it to a standard to match the price paid for a nights stay, breakfast(s) were very poor. Our room was particularly cold, there was no shower, just a bath. Such a shame really as the place has potential, it just needs updating.

Thank you for your comments. We are glad you enjoyed the warm welcome and the garden. We are very sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the breakfast. We pride ourselves on cooking breakfast to our guests' specification using locally-sourced produce, and only wish you had mentioned at the time that you were unhappy as we would have rectified this immediately. The room you booked was advertised as having a bath with attached shower head, but we also have two rooms with showers at Greenhead Farm and would have happily changed your room, or given you access to a shower, had you asked. While the rooms can get cold in winter, we provide electric blankets, hot water bottles and extra bedding, on top of the central heating, which allows our guests to choose the temperature they are most comfortable with. We always strive to make sure our guests are as comfortable as possible and have a pleasant stay with us,and we are very sorry that you felt that on this occasion we didn't meet the standard on which we pride ourselves.
