My recent stay at Oswald House Hotel was marred by an incredibly disappointing catering service. The food lacked taste, freshness, and proper presentation. The service was apathetic, and the limited menu options were monotonous. Considering the high prices, I strongly caution against choosing this hotel for a satisfying dining experience.

Visited for Birthday meal as been previous and very well presented and tasty meals etc, alas not this time , took us all to choose from menu , mediocre choice and only OK food, but the service let it down dramatically and they were far from busy , couple other tables, it was even an event to pay pwith there card machine , which they are aware off, and to boot the coffee we had to finish was the worst I have tasted and had separated from water and actually made me feel ill and was left , so I think I shall not return and spend my money elsewhere, shame as local !!

Stayed here with work colleagues and booked a single room, but was given a spacious double with great views. Room was spotless and nicely decorated...very homely! Staff were great and very attentive and the food was delicious. Breakfast was continental, but the waitress at breakfast explained this is only throughout the winter months. Would highly recommend. Great value for money and will be back!

Well what can I say, from the moment of our arrival to our departure the stay at Oswald House was an absolute pleasure. The rooms have be refurbished to a high standard and are very comfortable and still retain their historical charm. The staff, and especially Kerrie were excellent (other hotels need to take a leaf out of Oswald House's book on ensuring customer satisfaction). Kerrie was very helpful and attentive and nothing was too much trouble, and that can also be said about all the staff. The Hotel also retains its traditional Georgian charm, which results in a very comfortable and relaxing experience. The surrounding parkland is very nice, and there is a nice walk of around 2.5 miles around the perimeter of the golf course. Do I recommend, YES, would I stay again YES!

My husband and I stayed one night after spending the day in St. Andrews. It's a lovely old fashioned hotel with very nice personnel. It's a bit tired, but still very charming. The room was a lovely size. The bed was decent. The lobby was very welcoming with a huge fire in the old fashioned fireplace. The price was right, definitely less expensive than anything St. Andrews had to offer. It was a comfortable place to stay for the night.

Came in for a nice coffee On a rainy day. Good choices of draught beer, comfy atmosphere with open fire place and amazing views over Dunnikier park. Amy who made the coffee was lovely. Nice interior you feel like you are in a Scottish castle. Can’t wait to be back

Upon arrival, the hotel seemed fine. Check in was brisk and the staff were polite. The bed was clean and comfy. However, although the bathroom looked modern, the toilet seat was loose, water pressure was low and the 1 provided towel was thread bare with holes. Another downside is that my room was on the 4th floor with no lifts. This of course wouldn’t be an issue but there were no phones in the room to call reception. When I did need someone, it was difficult to find anyone. The room was also cold. There were provisions for tea / coffee but very limited in quantity. WiFi wasn’t working correctly, often did-connecting but slow speed when connected. In summary, has potential and staff are polite enough but it seems like they are under staffed and standards are low.

We had booked 2 nights at Oswald House with our friends who were traveling from Holland. The website looks amazing but the reality was far from it. We are seasoned travellers and have stayed in all sorts of accommodation but this is by far the worst. So much so we had to check out after one night. We have NEVER done that before. In a nutshell, the accommodation was dark and unclean. They may have renovated some parts but on arrival you enter from the back of the house which is unbelievably awful. First impressions! The stairway decoration and doors to the rooms are in dire need of restoration. The bedroom at first glance looks nice but when you get into bed you cannot relax. The springs are pushing into your back and you end up rolling towards the middle of the bed. Basic rule of a hotel to me is cleanliness, good mattress and hot water. We received none. I spoke with the duty manager, who was lovely, but overwhelmed as they were severely short staffed and even assisted her to try and make up the bed by adding an extra mattress topper and duvet. Not my job but I could see she was exhausted. We had the most uncomfortable nights sleep, if you can call it that. Breakfast was a shambles with dirty cutlery, lack of bread as well as staff and then spoilt yogurt and no butter as the fridge had broken down! The staff were lovely but this was beyond them and they were running around like headless chickens! They tried to accommodate us for the second night by changing room, which we agreed to as we were on holiday with our friends..I cannot talk for there stay as that wouldn’t be fair to the hotel. The final straw though was NO HOT WATER for a shower.. I feel that a hot shower can wash all your troubles away and you can re-boot! But after standing for over 5 mins in the shower with no sign of even lukewarm water.. enough was enough. My husband went down to reception and eventually when someone came up they agreed that there was no hot water and they didn’t know what to do, they also checked the bed and once again agreed that it was not acceptable. I apologise for this being so long but this is the first time I have every had to write a negative review! Basically, the duty manager from the evening before and the general manager, Kerrie, came to the hotel and eventually Kerrie agreed with us that this was all unacceptable and agreed to refund us the lost nights sleep and the night we wouldn’t be staying. Obviously, this isn’t what we wanted but we didn’t feel comfortable now staying at Oswald House and also needed to find another hotel. Now, the crux of this whole sorry saga is that to date we have not been refunded. After numerous attempts through booking.com and the hotel. I loaded with the owner and the excuses from”everyone is short staffed”, to its “a new mattress” and “it’s an old house so the water sometimes cuts off and it’s a simple matter of flicking a switch”..which non of the staff obviously are unaware of! To reneging of her managers agreement of refunding the full stay! She has agree to refund the second night which we are still waiting on. I am a business woman myself and I have never come across anything like this and as an business owner if I treated my customers like this..well.. Suffice to say we will NEVER go back to Oswald House or recommend it to anyone. We maybe London natives but bought our first home in Edinburgh and worked and studied there! Scotland is dear to our hearts and we visit, with friends often! So we are not just one of these passing through tourists who won’t be back! Give Oswald House a wide berth and go to The Hydro in Dunblane or the Hilton Glasgow golf resort! Both outstanding.

Fantastic food, great service and lovely room. Stayed in room 12, which overlooked the park and was beautifully furnished. It was spotlessly clean and had everything you could possibly need. Staff were very friendly and both the breakfast and dinner were first class - I recommend the steak pie, it was delicious!

Stayed at Oswald House for a trip to see some of the Edinburgh Fringe as well as travelling around the East Neuk. The staff were great, very welcoming, nothing was too much. Our room was on the top floor, which had some great views across the park - very comfy bed! We ate at the hotel on the first night, it was so good we ended up eating there three of the five nights we stayed. Can’t wait to come back, will recommend to friends.
