I wasn't going to bother putting a review of this guesthouse on but after visiting another guesthouse in St Andrews I have decided that not all guesthouses are noisy like the experience we had at Burness House. The owners had some friends in and were obviously having a bit of a party - this would have been OK had they...

It’s quite hard to respond to a review that’s submitted nearly 5 months after the persons claimed to have stayed with us, the delay in responding is strange as they claim staying at another Guest House in St Andrews in February 2011 inspired them to write their first review, strangely they chose not to review that place!. We were not...

The only thing to greet us on arriving at Burness House was a bag of sausages behind the front door. We had said we would arrive "one-ish" and as the owner was going to be playing golf, she said she'd leave a key for us. There was no key to be found anywhere and no one in to give us...

The couple in question did not stay with us, however they did make an enquiry where they were made fully aware of our absence on that day, they told Hazel (the owner) in an email, "no problems enjoy the golf," Hazel sent an emailed confirmation with instructions as regards the room key etc . Regretably the couple choose not to...

We just returned from a 11 day Scotland trip that took us up north to Royal Dornoch, then to middle of the country, with finally ending up for 6 nights in St. Andrews at the Burness House. Our group had 8 guys, so we had the whole house to ourselves, which made it very nice. Rooms and bathrooms are excellent....

Burness House is the best B&B i have ever stayed at. Hazel is the perfect hostess and her poached eggs are devine. The location is fantastic, only a few minutes walk from the old course. The rooms are spotlessly clean and well equipped. Hazel and Laurie go well out of their way to provide the best service in the whole...

Our group of eight golfers just spent six nights with Hazel and Laurie. Try as you might, you won't find a better B&B in St Andrews. The location is ideal - a 5 minute stroll to the Old Course - right in center of all the great pubs, restaurants, and shops. The rooms are perfectly sized, squeaky clean, and very...

Hi Thanks for the great comments, its always nice to get 8 golfers as they have the full occupancy of the Guest House and your group were so easy and nice to look after, glad you all managed to get on the Old Course, eventually!. As regards the golf, just had a lucky day on the greens, I guess and...

Our group of eight golfers stayed with Laurie and Hazel while playing golf in and around St. Andrews in '09. Four in the hotel and four in the nearby flat. Nothing could have been better than the location, the conditions, and their hospitality. Will certainly try to stay there again on our next golf pilgrimage to St. Andrews.
