The Courtyard Glasgow SEC is often celebrated for its spotless and modern accommodations, with many guests commending the hotel for its cleanliness. Its prime location near the OVO Hydro makes it a favorite for event-goers, although some reviews point to potential noise disruptions.
While the rooms receive praise for comfort, opinions on value are mixed, with some guests expressing concerns over unexpected charges and the cost of breakfast. Service quality appears to fluctuate, with reports of both commendable staff interactions and disappointing service hiccups.

Detailed Reviews
The hotel reception area and the rooms are very nice. We stayed one night when going to a gig at the Armadillo and the location is excellent for this. It is also very easy to get to by car and the car park is literally next door. There are, however, some negatives. The reception area is cold and it wasn't helped when we had afternoon luke warm coffee served from the bar. Our room was also cold and despite trying numerous settings on the heating control we were unable to get any heat. Eventually I called reception who were able to set it remotely. I wonder if this is a deliberate arrangement to cut down on heating bills. We had dinner and , although the food and service were very good the menu choice was very limited (steak, salmon, burgers and ribs) and a soft drink and a glass of house wine was £11.50. The restaurant area was also cold which did not provide for a comfortable dining experience. When we got back from our show we had a nightcap which was very expensive (£22 for 2 drinks) and bar service was very slow. We took our drinks back to our room because the bar area was too cold. There is plenty of choice at breakfast which was very good. I would probably return here because of its location but go elsewhere for dinner and drinks

Good morning DM2303, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review regarding your recent stay with us at the Courtyard by Marriott Glasgow SEC. I am happy to hear that overall you had an enjoyable stay with us. I am sorry to hear you were experiencing some problems with the heating in your room. We do not control the heating from reception, we do have a panel where we can help to change the settings for the rooms. Unfortunately, due to unexpected cold weather we were not able heat up the whole of the ground floor to the temperature we would have liked, which we apologise for. We have a new management team in our restaurant and there are some exciting changes coming soon! I do hope we will have the chance to welcome you back in the near future! Kind regards, Bianka

My friend and I stayed over for a gig at the Hydro.
The public areas of the hotel were clean and tidy and the corridors were lovely and wide. My bedroom was clean, beautifully furnished and comfortable and there were no issues with noise through the night.
I felt for the room rate paid that the hospitality tray was rather basic. It had paper cups and there were no herbal tea bags, water or biscuits on offer (just as well I packed a bedtime tea bag and bag of crisps!)
There was no information in the bedroom about the food offer, in terms of dinner or breakfast menus or pricing, which wasn’t very helpful.
We decided to have a pre-gig meal in the hotel. Although we hadn’t booked it wasn’t busy and we got a table no bother. The food arrived quickly and was of decent quality.
In the morning we decided to investigate breakfast however at £18 it was far too expensive for me, as I don’t eat a full cooked breakfast and on enquiring was told that there was no continental option available. However the member of staff kindly informed us that the hotel provides guests with complimentary beverages and pastries, which offer we gratefully took up, although yet again there was no herbal tea on offer.
We would stay at this hotel again due to its proximity to the Hydro.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I initially booked one night to treat my son before he went back to school as he loves this hotel. This was done via booking.com. I then thought well, why not make it a proper trip and extend by a day. So I requested via booking.com to extend one more day (there was availability), but was declined and told via message from the hotel through booking.com that there was no availability at all.
I then checked again, there still were rooms, but strangely, more expensive than the day before! I then rang the hotel, who also told me there was no availability, and that they had no control over hotel pricing...
This then led me to Marriot's own website, and sure enough there was also availability there. I booked a room there, at a slightly higher rate than I originally enquired about.
Check in was no problem, although they weren't aware of our second night, and it was mentioned 'I don't even know how it let you book'. This was disconcerting, but the second reservation was found. I enquired if we would have to move rooms and was told no it would be fine (luckily!), but we would have to change key cards in the morning.
The room cleaning could be a little more thorough this time I believe. There was mould in the bathroom shower. A sock, and dirty glass under my sons fold out bed. The conditioner had only a tiny little bit left in it. Our room was not serviced at all on day 2, we were out most of the day, and nobody knocked. The fact that the shower curtain didn't go all the way around in this room I think impacted a bit on the floor being utterly soaked all the way to the door to the bedroom, and we had to use towels to soak it up otherwise the bathroom would be unusable. We also had to go ask for toilet roll as we ran out due to no housekeeping.
On check out day at around 10am (we forgot to put the do not disturb sign on) housekeeping asked to service the room, but said they would come back later. Around 20 minutes later she tried again, and entered our room but we were still packing, showering etc. Check out isn't until 12, so surely there could be some mechanism for checking.
Breakfast was good both days, however on day 2 the orange juice ran out and was not replenished. The bar area is lovely and relaxing and usually quiet.
My husband used the gents toilet in the bar area, and there was no toilet roll in it, so he had to use the disabled toilet.
Staff are always helpful, although I think with the bus load of tourists that arrived I believe they were a little flustered this time which may have had a bit of an impact. Nothing was too much of a problem if you asked. It's just the fact that you had to ask when basics are expected for the price paid.
Would I return? Yes I think so, nothing majorly wrong with the stay just little niggles that I think need to be looked at before they become a bigger problem.

The Bathroom design is completely impractical and non private, To start the bathroom door is a large frosted window door which does not make it feel private while using the lavatory but opposite the bathroom door is a enormous mirror which reflects the door to the rest of the room leaving an outline of the person using the lavatory giving no privacy while using it. The toilet seat in the bathroom is square leading you to slowly fall into the toilet so you have to constantly adjust your self. The shower while having very nice soaps is also highly impractical as there is a paine of glass that covers half of the shower but no door to close behind your or curtain to help stop water this leads to water splashing all over the bathroom leaving it flooded for the rest of the stay. The service in the restaurant is absolutely appalling we had made a booking for 7:30 PM thinking it would be a quick meal as we had been travelling since 6 AM and we're too tired to venture out of the hotel the menu was extremely basic and limited compared to the the last time we were here foods from their former menu were gormet and exciting with them having things such as duck confit lamb Rogan Josh etc their new menu is boring and extremely basic but the prices were extremely inflated with the starters starting at £7 and their most expensive being £12.50 which would be okay if it didn't take 30 minutes to come out and was disgusting I ordered the halloumi fries at £8 which were obviously frozen and reheated and smothered in a flavourless what I think was a bbq sauce and ranch dressing the halloumi was breaded but was rubbery and spongy and not crispy due to the excessive amount of sauce time their drinks were extortionate with their cheapest pint costing £6.40 and their most expensive being £7.50 then our mains we ordered our food at 7:40 PM received our starters 30 later then had to wait over an hour for our mains this would not have been a problem if it was extremely busy but restaurant was barely busy and many people who were seated after us received their mains and had finished them before we even got ours in the end we had to leave our table to ask a waiter where our food was as none of them looked at our table making us feel forgotten and invaluable as customers. By the end of the meal we were so tired that after we payed we immediately fell asleep from exhaustion after believing the meal would be a fast and easy meal. Also the location of the hotel is terrible with taxis refusing to take you from the airport as it's not far enough for them to make a profit from leaving the taxi queue from Infront of the airport but just being far enough that you have to walk about 15 minutes the path to the hotel is not very accessible with you having to trek across two car parks puddles and a small walking pathway. Don't not reccommend don't come here unless you have to.

booked here as we were seeing paolo nutini at the hydro and the trains were on strike- ended up getting a not bad deal at £100 a night. The hotel was spotless and rooms were so clean and spacious, bed super comfy also! The location is ideal as it is a 2 minute walk from the hydro and there are also plenty of bars and pubs just around the corner and up the road at finnieston. Would definitely want to return here just for a little overnight, shopping and food next time. Staff were so lovely allowed me to check into room at 8am and sealed with the crazy crowds super professionally- definitely will be back. Only thing i can say is the shower is extremely tempremantal and hard to use as it hangs on the wall therefor you need to hold it above your head to use it.

This hotel - accommodations, food and staff - exceeded all expectations! My husband and I, with a tour group, stayed 2 nights, 9/8/24-9/10/24. After our international overnight flight, it was so awesome that our room was ready early! From appetizers to deserts, our first dinner, at the hotel, was absolutely perfect. Our room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. There were so many choices for breakfast, and all was delicious. Our experience was perfect until…..it got even better! We returned to our room after walking to the Clydeside Distillery and I realized that I left my purse (passports and credit cards inside) at the distillery. First I panicked, then I quickly called the distillery, but they had closed 15 minutes prior. Our tour group must leave at 8am the next morning as we have ferry reservations and we will be hotel hopping around Scotland for the next 3 days in a row. I ran down to the front desk for any possible help. Ben Walsh did not hesitate… he jumped into his car and drove to the distillery where he found no one left inside. Lucky for us, his friend is a manager there. He called her and she went to retrieve my bag to give to him. Ben was back to the hotel within 20 minutes with our passports (my bag) in hand. I could not be more thankful for all that Ben did for us - he truly saved the day!! Our stay here had been perfect and turned out to be nothing short of a miracle meeting Ben. That level of customer service says it all! All staff was super friendly and helpful, but Ben will always hold a special place in our hearts! Thank you Marriott, and we sincerely hope that you are able to officially recognize him in a more grand and formal way than we ever could.

My husband and I stayed here in July 2023 for a convention.
From the get go everything was just wonderful. Our room was clean and smelled fresh, the bed and pillows were very comfortable 😴 there was even a welcome message with our name on the tv!
The staff were all excellent 👌🏻
Loved the breakfast selections and the evening meals were good too.
What I really wanted to write about:
I stupidly left my iPad on the bed, we were 100 plus miles toward home before I reaslised. So I called reception and within 10 minutes my iPad was in the main office being packaged ready for me to arrange a pick up.
When my iPad arrived home, it was so carefully packaged with polystyrene sheets so it wouldn’t get damaged in transit. I was very impressed by the excellent customer care.
Thank you Marriott 🥰 we will be back 💞

Stayed over as we were attending a gig at the Hydro.
The room was perfect for our requirements. We were on the 4th floor facing the car park however we were only using the room for a pit stop therefore the lack of a view was not an issue.
The hotel was busy but very peaceful through the night.
The room was clean and comfortable. Love the showers in this hotel plus the grapefruit and mint shower gel!
All the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful.
We chose the click & collect pizza option for our pre-gig fodder and ate them at a table in the lobby. The pizzas had plenty of topping but could’ve been hotter. The bar had run out of some drinks but I got my 3rd choice so it was all good.
We went for the hot drinks and pastries option for breakfast and the staff kindly managed to conjure up some peppermint tea bags to my delight. We were told we could have as much toast and pastries as we liked so the £5.50 felt good value.
Love this hotel as it’s so handy for the Hydro!

Lovely modern hotel with staff who are more than willing to help with any queries
Connected to the car park on level 2 where they have discounted car parking of £8.00 per day
I am a very light sleeper and my initial room was a lovely corner room directly opposite the OVO Hydro and the Finnieston Crane and I was worried about the noise from events, however not once did I hear any noise from any of the events on which was brilliant. Especially as I was travelling for work so I had to be up early.
On a few occasions I treated myself to breakfast at the hotel and the choice of food was superb. From cereal to a full English breakfast with haggis. Muffins, bread and a selections of juices. If you were in a rush they were also happy for you to take something to go as well.
For a business person staying at the hotel for several weeks there is also a wide selection of restaurants to order from on Deliveroo or Just Eat and the hotel are happy for you to take food in from outside to your room.
The evening menu for the hotel was a bit limited and a bit pricey for myself however I would definitely recommend the cheese board.
There is also a Lidl and McDonalds near by (walking distance).
The only noise issue I had was the air condition sometimes made a humming sound but that would only cause an issue if you are a light sleeper like myself.
The TV channel selection is great and the room size is brilliant with desk space, your own kettle and the bathrooms are fabulous.
Would happily recommend the hotel to any one!

This place is my first choice for hotel accommodation when attending a concert at the Hydro…literally a couple of mins and you’re there. Room spotlessly clean as always, very comfy beds and every member of staff I met was courteous and friendly.
Always a decent price too compared to the other big names nearby, will be back 👍🏻
