We stayed at the Golden Eagle on this estate from 9th – 13th October 2021 in what was described as a “4-star luxury lodge”. The property even had the Scottish Tourist Board 4-star rating in the window. They are not rated by Visit Scotland – this is incorrect. The Scottish Tourist Board have confirmed this. Now whilst the lodge was spacious and well equipped it was far from luxury. The beds were awful, cheap warehouse mattresses which meant you spent the whole night rolling together. The bathrooms were full of mould in both showers and the main bathroom had a broken bath panel and built up limescale on the walls. The living room sofa was torn and the carpets with very dirty and worn. Just when it can’t get much worse the cooker hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly and the grill went on fire due to residual fat. Overall, the property was just worn out and in need of a renovation and decoration. I would hardly describe mouldy bathrooms and worn dirty carpets as 4 star luxury! Now here is where is gets interesting – don’t bother to complain as Silverglades are extremely reluctant to answer any complaints and in fact we spent 4 weeks trying to resolve our complaint to no end. I managed to get a response to my first email of 13th October, 5 days a later and then waited some 24 days for a further response. Thereafter they refused to answer any emails. They will protest I requested a refund in full on 13th October when in truth there was no mention of a refund in this email. Their only comments were “The owner is aware the property is now needing some areas refreshed following a very busy season and they were planning to make some improvements. I am sorry for the mould stains; I can assure you that the shower corners were scrubbed with bleach.” “The carpets had also been cleaned by hand however some of the marks will not come out and again this will be reported to the owner as needing replaced.” I would hardly describe mouldy bathrooms and worn dirty carpets as 4 star luxury! They refused to enter Arbitration as suggested by Consumer Advice Scotland and didn’t even bother to respond to that request. Trading Standards also agreed the property had been misrepresented on the website due to the images and use of the Tourist Board rating. Silverglades are extremely clever though – your contract is not with them but the homeowner so as such there is no retribution when it comes to claiming any compensation. You aren’t protected by Credit Card payments either as you pay them and not the owner. All I can say is please be very wary of entering into any agreement with this company. They refuse to accept any liability for shortcomings and be careful what you view on their website – the images are very old and out of date on the Golden Eagle.

We were so looking forward to this holiday as love Aviemore and it did not disappoint! We stayed in Ptarmigan Cottage, on arrival it was spotlessly clean and welcoming, there was even a welcome pack for the dogs with a list of lovely local dog walks! This cottage is a home from home, it has everything you could possibly need. The beds are comfortable and the showers excellent! The WiFi was great and it has sky tv. The location of the cottage is a short (8 minute) walk right into the Centre of Aviemore. The garden was enclosed and has a picnic table to sit out and we were so lucky with the weather. If you are looking for a nice relaxing break away with all the comforts of home - this is the place! We will be back!

I enjoyed my first stay in Heather Cottage so much I didn't want to leave! I felt relaxed from the moment I walked through the front door. Immaculately clean and well equipped with everything you need for the perfect self-catering break. I felt very safe staying here. The cottage is located in a quiet residential area. There is a shop nearby for groceries and the centre of Aviemore is about a 15 minute walk away. I enjoyed sitting in the private garden in the evenings with a glass of wine. So peaceful and relaxing. I have stayed at other Silverglades properties over the years and they have all been to the same high standard. I'll definitely be booking again sometime soon!

Had a great 10 night stay in Ruby Cottage. 2 adults and 3 children (7, 10, 14). This little gem has everything you could possibly need for a family holiday. The kitchen is well equipped and the utility room with washer and dryer is really helpful. The property was clean and grass was even cut prior to our arrival. Bedrooms - the master bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. There are 2 further bedrooms downstairs with a single and bunk beds. This suited us with the children’s ages however it would be difficult with young children sleeping on a different level. There is also a shower room on the ground floor. Outside there is a decked seating area and a shed to store bikes. It’s is also helpful having a clothes line to hang out washing! Location - very close to the level crossing and the Spey Valley Country club which we used for swimming. There is noise from the train track which runs along the back however it would appear to only be the steam train that uses this line and although noise during the day when it passes there was no noise at night. There is ongoing building works across the back therefore construction noise can be heard from around 8am during the week. This was not an issue for us. Approx 20 min walk into the town. Good area for cycling and dog walks. There is a Silverglades office on site. Property has good information contained within and the silver card to save 10% at some local venues is an added benefit! Would recommend and would happily return.

Stayed in 159, 4 adults staying for 3 days. It was modern, clean and very well equipped, nice garden with bbq and picnic bench, nice quiet area, and only a short walk (less than 10 minutes) to the hub of aviemore shops, pubs etc. Parking on driveway for 2 cars. You can also walk to the village without having to go via the busy road which is great if you have kids or dog with you. We had the dog with us, and plenty of places to walk nearby as well, both short and long walks. The only negative I would have is that although it was spacious enough for 4 for a short stay, the listing said it could sleep 4-6. I think for 6 it would be cramped as storage was limited so I don't know where you'd put 6 peoples belongings.
