Went to Scotland during half term in October and sadly could only book one night at the Cairngorm Hotel - wish we could have stayed longer. The Receptionist was very welcoming and answered our questions with a smile. The room was clean with tea and coffee making facilities and the bathroom clean with complimentary toiletries. We had booked a table in the Restaurant and went to the Bar first. Wow, so busy but the staff were very quick at serving but still have time to chat to you whilst dealing with your order. The Restaurant was heaving when we arrived - always a good sign - and when it was our time it was still full. The Restaurant staff really deserved medals as they worked so hard and had still had smiles on their faces. Be warned - go in with a good appetite as the portions are very, very generous. The same goes for breakfast, good portions and all well cooked and again the staff were great. Hoping to go back next April so will be booking into the Cairngorm again, but we had better book early to make sure they can fit us in.…
After walking practically the length of Aviemore in the rain only to discover that no restaurants where open, with sore feet and wet clothes we where reluctant to go in as we didn't fancy hotel food. Glad we did, staff at bar were lovely, and after we dried off a bit the restaurant who were very short staffed accommodated us for a place to eat. Service was very good considering how busy they were and the food was amazing! Thank you to all staff who made us feel welcome and fed us amazing much needed hot food.
This hotel advertises as “dog friendly” but it’s not, unless you leave your dog in your room. No dog allowed in the bar or at the restaurant. You’re left with a few tables in the reception area next to the entrance door with absolutely no atmosphere and freezing cold for drinks only. You’re only able to eat if you get room Service and you’re not allowed to have breakfast unless you leave the dog. If you want room service for breakfast because you can’t bring your dog this service is only available after 10am. I would not have booked this hotel if this was advised upfront. Instead they take your non refundable booking and tell you upon arrival. This is not a dog friendly hotel. I’ve ended up spending my money elsewhere for dinner and drinks over two days in Aviemore that are pet friendly as this hotel does not deserve any more money other than the room charge. Don’t advertise as a dog Friendly establishment if you’re not prepared to welcome the dogs…
From start to finish an exceptional hotel. So much so already booked to return in 2023. At check in we were greeted with a warm welcome and shown to our room, intentionally in the second floor due to pet allergy and these rooms being pet free. Dinner is first come first served, but very efficiently done, with ease to have a pre dinner drink in the bar. Food quality is brilliant, including dealing with food intolerances. The snug double is exactly that, snug. It works great however for more than a couple of nights is a bit tight. The only negative I was able to find was the bottom of the wardrobe being dusty which isn't great when you hang a long black dress up. Really looking forward to our return
I made a mistake when I made the reservation. It was non-refundable -- I just plain screwed up and needed to cancel. I had made the reservation that day, but they technically didn't have to refund my money, but they did. It looks like a great place and I think their service would be great.
A must visit gem of a hotel...I stayed in one of the economy rooms Bed was huge ..room was immaculate and the decor was fab... all the staff in this hotel are AMAZING...WiFi was excellent . Thanks for a lovely stay guys.x
Waiting for bus to go back to Nethybridge. Staff not great when we first arrived as three having a chat and ignoring customers. To be fair that did change and we were served well and quickly. 1 member of staff just not right for the job but other two we friendly and helpful. Spent a hour and half watching darts of all things, but having fun with other customers until it was time to leave, An unexpected enjoyable wee break in our plans and they were about to do theHarley Davison weekend so extra points for that alone 😃
We were lucky to get a table for two as we were non-residents. We had a superb meal here, with excellent, traditional service. The icing on the cake (or in my case their own sticky toffee pudding) was the lone piper who appeared at the hotel entrance and played for the hotel. We liked this venue so much we regret not having stayed here, and would certainly recommend their restaurant. I had their beef stroganoff and my wife had the fish. Both cooked to perfection ! Thank you.
Just home from a 5 night stay in the Cairngorm Hotel. A+++++ Good price, super friendly staff, great food, great bar and entertainment and super location, in the middle of Aviemore. We ate breakfast and three evening meals in the hotel, excellent!! Hearty traditional Scottish fare. In particular the prawn cocktail and chicken stuffed with haggis is the best we ate. Locally caught haggis!!! Aviemore is central to the highlands and we travelled to Inverness, Loch Lomond, Loch Ness, Fortwilliam and Pitlochry within an hour and a half away. The train stops just opposite the Hotel where you can catch the steam train etc. and there is a large Tesco supermarket 5 minutes walk. We had the snug room for three nights and were warned that it was snug. It is, so if you suffer from claustrophobia be warned. Moved to King room which was super!! Like all places you visit there are small issues but they didn’t detract from the overall experience. Can’t wait to get back to this traditional Scottish Hotel.…
We go to the “Cairn” fairly regularly, for the restaurant, not staying there, and, the food is extremely tasty; I always clean the plate, which I rarely so anywhere else; it is THAT delicious. I believe I was told, although don’t know if this is true, that there was a Michelin Star chef there, so no wonder the food tastes great. The service is also really good; they have things roast dinners out to us really quickly, as we usually have to wait a while at any other restaurant. The rest of the restaurant staff, waiters ect. are all very kind too! They always are fast to get us sitting in a table, even if busy and like to talk; they have good banter lol. There was this one female waiter who was extremely nice; you couldn’t ask for nicer customer service. We always leave large tips in here because of the excellent staff. It’s good that anyone can go into the restaurant to eat, provided they are not really busy, and without staying in the hotel aswell; that’s a really kind thing for them to do. As for the hotel part, however, I cannot tell you about that as I’ve never stayed in the hotel itself; if I ever have any family staying there when they come up and visit — then I’m sure they can leave a review on what they thought of the rooms.…
