Treated ourselves to a luxury night stay in one of the premium rooms which was massive with a huge bathroom. Nice grounds and waterfall. Had the taster menu which was great. Wine pairing worth going for.. the servers don’t really explain the drinks but delivered the largest glass of dessert wine I’ve ever seen! Service was decent, although not quite seamless. Took a while to be attended to when we arrived. An expensive night but glad we stayed
Booked table for 7, mains arrived at 8.45. Little menu choice just fixed. Bathroom door didn’t shut which meant the dripping toilet could be heard all night. Internet didn’t work in room just in main hotel. Only one chair in a room costing over £200 is poor but i guess they want you spending money in the bar. When issues mentioned at check out, no interest in them. Lock on front door was also tricky, even for the lady who showed us the room. If the stay was £150 we could accept some of these problems but at over £300 for 1 night with dinner, we were very disappointed. Worst stay during our NC500 tour, B&Bs far better abd a fraction of the price.
We stayed here for two nights as part of our honeymoon. Fabulous, friendly staff. Delicious food. Huge copper bath. Amazing selection of whiskey. Could not fault anything. There is waterfall in the grounds, not to be missed. Our base for a couple of days, taking in John O’Groats and Smoo Cave.
We stayed in the Cottage "Hairy Mary" and not in the hotel, we had a family room and the room and bathroom was spacious and clean as you would expect. We was warmly welcomed and shown to our room, the hotel is located off the road down a private drive, you can walk to the sea from the hotel through the fields and there is also an old watermill in the grounds that you can walk around to. We ate in the Hotel Dinner and Breakfast and the Dinner was the best fayre we had in Scotland for a reasonable price, the breakfast was also great and couldn't be faulted. We would without doubt return.
Stayed for a couple of nights on a tour of Scotland with the family. We were in the Mill House which had 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms over three floors and some of the old mill machinery still there. The beds were really comfortable and the only noise was from the waterfall beside the mill. The main house has that eclectic individuality that you only seem to get in old country house hotels. Staff were fantastic.
