Visited the Pentland for lunch with friends. Maureen, our server/host was fantastic and a fountain of local knowledge. She was very friendly and attentive. The food was very good although my curry was a bit lack lustre in terms of spices. Presentation was great and you get a good sized portion. Next time I would go for a pasta dish...

Members of a coach party and found bedroom accommodation of a good standard, food for evening meals excellent. Breakfasts self service but able to order dishes - problem was that one member of staff to be seen was very busy! Breakfast food ordered was good. We found the sound insulation between rooms poor- or just that we had noisy neighbours.

Rooms were large, clean and well equipped. Breakfast was ok but not as good as others on our trip to Scotland. Service was excellent and the staff could not have been more helpful. Easy walk into the town but be prepared for rain (twice soaked!)

This a typical coaching hotel. Get them In, feed them get them out. Hate the buffet style breakfast service. Food looked congealed and rubber eggs. Staff were helpful in providing fresh items if asked. Bar/ reception staff very pleasant and helpful. Wouldn't recommend

So after having to travel an additional 20 miles to get to the hotel I was greeted by a tiny single room. I was very disappointed. The hotel itself is a fine...

In for a pint at lunch time good service and very smartly dressed staff. Lots of people in for tea and cakes or scones so not really a mans drinking type of place. Had soup and sandwiches and both were very good lentil soup was tasty. A clean establishment with spotless toilets. Overall a pleasant hour in nice surroundings.

Stayed here during a recent business trip. The hotel does need some money spent on it to bring it up to a reasonable standard. Also was told that I couldn't get an evening meal for the kitten closed at 2030 which seemed really strange. We also had a fire alarm at 0400 and no one seemed to know what was...

Decent bar.Staff are very good. However the rooms are very dated and have very thin walls, you can hear every creak!!. Breakfast isn't bad.Wouldn't go out of my way to stay again. In an ideal location close to shops and pubs.

The Pentland Hotel has two lounges for conferences and a night porter available to ensure late services are accommodated to and early risers can enjoy a continental breakfast.
