Ian and sister were great hosts - on a level that you don't get at big-box hospitality chains. I was pleased to have called to check on last-minute availability because nothing was showing online - but they had room and cheaper directly! Likes: large room with nice bathroom and minimal ambient noise from the street side; tasty, local breakfast included, perfect location, reasonable rates, cozy family-run feel and welcoming inn. Dislikes: none

I traveled to Scotland for the first time and stayed 2 nights at the MacDougall Clansman Hotel ( my first and last night before my flight home). I have to say I thought the hotel was very charming, loved all of the framed pictures of the Clansman in their tartans. The rooms are clean and comfortable, nice warm shower and comfortable bed, both important after a long flight. Iain MacDougall, the proprietor of this family run hotel was kind and helpful and added a personal warm welcome, which was so much appreciated. Breakfast was delicious! Location can't be beat. What else can I say? I will definitely stay there again next time I am in Inverness!

An excellent welcoming family run hotel with a peaceful relaxing ambience. Iain and his staff are warm, friendly, professional and extremely helpful. Great accommodation and a super breakfast. I came to Inverness to attend a family funeral and felt sensitively nurtured by the welcome and caring service I received. It is so unusual nowadays to find businesses going the extra mile for customers. I would recommend them to anyone looking for accommodation in this area. A jewel in the crown of Inverness ! Lovely small hotel located within easy walking distance from the railway and bus stations. Iain MacDougall is a very charming proprietor; he went out of his way to accommodate us. Room was spotless, and breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, toast, etc.) was prepared very well. Only concern for some would be there is no elevator/lift. I hope we can return to Inverness in the future. We will be sure to stay here again.

This hotel was an easy walk from the train and bus stations (which are pretty much side-by-side). The front door was locked (COVID) but the desk guy was right there to check me in. He was always on hand and always nice. My room was on the street side, but Inverness is quiet and I enjoyed the view. This was a really nice room, with plentiful plugs, good hot water, comfortable beds and a nice breakfast, made to order each day and served in a pleasant dining room. Also, they were willing to give me the same breakfast, but early, on the day I had an early tour start.

I sensed the hotel would be special as soon as I received an email from the proprietor, offering advance information about the hotel and its location. This first impression was surpassed on arrival with a warm welcome from the proprietor. As tourists, the hotel was perfect but some guests may find the absence of a restaurant, serving lunch and dinner, or a bar, to be limiting. For the regular tourist or guest, the full Scottish breakfast served between 0800 and 0915 will be appreciated. The hotel’s location about ten minutes walk from the train and bus stations will be a bonus as were the many restaurants, even close to the hotel. The next time I visit Inverness, The MacDougall Clansman Hotel will be my hotel of choice.

Best value in Inverness. Great location, perfectly spotless rooms, exemplary service, and all for a fraction of lesser hotels in the area. If you want to stay right in the city center and have convenient access to shops, restaurants, pubs, and all the sites - this is a great option. Free WiFi and an excellent full breakfast are an added bonus on the value.

On entering the hotel there was a musky smell in the entrance hall and reception area ,we were checked in promptly by the proprietor who then carried our suitcase to our room, the room itself was clean and comfortable but overlooking a busy street tea/coffee sugar and milk were topped up daily Breakfast was good with a good selection I would say on a personal preference the sausage and scrambled eggs were slightly under cooked A lovely hotel which is centrally located and only 10 minutes walk from the railway station. An enjoyable stay was had and will recommend
