Perfect as a base for exploring highlands at a fraction of the cost of the other hotels. Stayed in a single room with en-suite. The shower and bath room were spacious and there was tea and coffee in the room. Very short walk to centre across the bridge into town. Collection of keys is from another place about 5 mins walk away. Only one tiny negative thing is the keychain which you’re given with room key is very noisy so be prepared to be woken by other people jingling coming in and out, bring earplugs!
As the other reviews say, you have to collect your key from another bnb across the road but in a car there’s no inconvenience. The man at reception was very helpful and friendly. Despite booking 2 single rooms at the same time, for some reason we’d been put in different houses which he rectified immediately (so double check you’re in the same building if you make more than one booking). I had single room 15, ground floor of the house on the right, it was cold at night but there was a plug in radiator available. The room was very clean and large (surprised they hadn’t utilised it with a double bed). The only downside was by being next to the front door it was noisy when people came in and out (the front door itself rather than the guests), my friend upstairs didn’t hear a thing. There’s no breakfast available but there’s a lovely bakery just on the corner of the main road, a couple of minutes walk away. The location of the house was great, just a 10 minute walk into the centre, you see the castle as you cross the bridge. There was a very useful book in the room with important numbers and recommendations, which was a nice touch. Overall, a great stay…just take earplugs if you’ve got a ground floor room!…
The best thing I can say is I would stop there again 🙂 that says it. Clean and tidy very close to the centre of Inverness. It was a very reasonable price for very convertible stay in a warm clean room.
- You have to collect the room key from another B&B, which is a short distance walk (5 mins) - Check in extremely efficient - Good private parking - Excellent location for walking into town - Double room - very nice large room, with fair sized shower room - Dressing table, wardrobe, chairs and TV - Ample plug points - Very clean and tidy - Check out extremely efficient N.B. We stayed in a room on the ground floor at the front of the property. It was noisy when people came in, mainly because the front door slammed shut (loudly enough to wake you up) and there was a bit of noise from people using the stairs. Good value for money, we would stay again but perhaps in a different room.
Although getting the key was a bit of a nightmare (you have to go to another place to get it), the room was really clean and cozy. I would like to congratulate the amazing staff. I forgot a Kindle e-reader in the room, and they kindly helped me get it back via post mail. I'm eternally grateful for their rapid response and kindness. Highly recommend.
Rooms were very clean, as well as the bathrooms. Heat is adequate and the room is warm. The only downside is the double bed, it is rather small for people over 170cm but comfy nonetheless. Overall a good choice.
Check-in is easy, though it is off-site. Parking was pleniful and it was within walking distance to the city center. The room and bathroom were very clean. The price was good. But... the beds sloped and the springs creaked. The window shades and curtains were not sufficient to keep the room dark. I found the water pressure in the shower to be lacking. Finally, the electrical outlets were old and worn which made it impossible to use my plug converter.
The Alban House is located in a residential area about a 20 minute walk from downtown. A good bakery is a block away and a small Tesco two blocks away. To get checked in you have to cross a busy street with no light then walk a short distance to get a key. The rooms are nice and clean. Ours was large enough for a small couch. The shower is large. The beds are toward the hard Side. A no. 2 bus stops just outside the front door and takes you to Queensgate, near the bus station and train depot.
We were on our way to a wedding so were only here for a night. Clean comfortable and convenient for the town. Staff very good and friendly even when I locked my key in the room. Would definitely recommend.
Nice clean place but lots of noise from other suites if you are on bottom floor. No food or facilities on-site and not allowed to bring in take-away food. Only place close is a Co-op Gas station store for food unless you want to walk over the bridge and into town. We were weary travellers and did not find this place very comfy or quiet.
